Voice Mail and how to access it to pick up voice messages?

As a very recent customer of Plusnet, I am finding it somewhat difficult to understand who how why and when in this system of things. So, can anyone tell me how to access voice mail messages on the telephone? My previous provider has a 1571 number to dial to access voice mail, so does Plusnet have anything similar. Why anyone should be directed to the 1571 system when I have an answe phone is beyond my understanding. Still waiting for a response from Plusnet help assistant, but, as it is a Bank Holiday, I suppose they have a limited number of operatives on duty, so will not castigate them at this time.....
Any advice please?

Welcome to the Forum
its all down to how quick your answer phone cuts in, not sure of the 1571 time, but you want it about 1 second quicker than that

Plusnet do have a voicemail system using the 1571 code, but it's not active unless you ask for it here.
If it's already active but you want to use your answerphone instead it can be removed here.

My sincere thanks to the two respondents to my question in regard to voice mail, which thanks to the reply2# I have now opted not to have voice mail. I missed an imporant message while I was out, so missed my hospital transport order, so as I couldn't confirm my transport arrangement, ambulance service kindly sent me transport too early for my appointment, then didn't follow up on what was going to happen to my missed appointment. Things can only get better. Happy New Year everyone.
