Re: cordless phones compatible with voip

@Bella123 not on its own, No. It would need connecting via an ATA such as https://voipon.co.uk/fanvil-ga11-sip-ata-gateway-p-10100.html or https://www.grandstream.com/products/gateways-and-atas/analog-telephone-adaptors/product/ht802 .

Re: cordless phones compatible with voip

Is there cordless phones available that do plug in directly? Panasonic KX-TGC260?

Not on a Plusnet router no - these don't have a built-in ATA.

@Bella123

The nearest you'll get to what I think you're trying to achieve is one of the Gigaset IP range where the DECT base station acts as an ATA, e.g. N300-IP, which plugs in to a LAN port on your router.

Gigaset N300 IP

Edit: Although there is no incoming call blocking feature.

@Bella123

Yes, I have one of these, its a voip DECT base unit.

https://gse.gigaset.com/fileadmin/legacy-assets/Datasheet_N300_IP_N300A_IP_UK_Ireland.pdf

It works best with Gigaset handsets but it IS GAP compatible and so should provide basic functionality with other GAP handsets (although I've never tried!)

edit @RobPN beat me to it

Edit: Although there is no incoming call blocking feature.

and unfortunately A & A dont provide it (yet?) either. I currently use SIpgate (I still have a free  Basic account) which does provide call blocking

@Bella123

You have started numerous threads recently, have you considered moving to a comms provider (BT/EE, Vodafone) who supply a digital phone service.

With BT/EE and vodafone the routers with the phone service enabled have a working phone socket on the back of the  router where an existing phone used now can be connected like the Panasonic KX-TGC260 mentioned in this thread.

Just a thought.

Re: cordless phones compatible with voip

General FYI I initially used a variety of old GAP handsets with my Gigaset N300IP and they worked fine within their limitations for making and receiving calls, once you work out the registration process for each type.

As they were old anyway I've scrapped them all and now have just Gigaset handsets which are more functional.

(And I upgraded my N300IP to an N510ipPro once the old POTS landline was totally dead)

I'd add Zen to that list. Their routers also have a working phone socket and their digital phone service is quite reasonable. The other advantage is that the router isnt 'locked' to Zen and can be used with other voip services.

PS I'd personally also remove Vodafone from the list mainly because of my previous disastrous experience with them trying to move the office connection.

Re: cordless phones compatible with voip

Yeah, i have started a lot of threads recently. I'm still trying to get my head around it all and find the best solution

Currently have Unlimited fibre and homephone

Contract ends in May

FF is available

Options are

1. Recontract on existing plan, keeping phone line as long as possible. If /when phone line goes, find a digital alternative such as A&A.

2. Go FTTP,  but with this i would want the CSP mounted in the roofspace (fully boarded, lights) and the ONT would have to go in another room beside a TV point. The internal fibre cable could be run down the same conduit as the tv coax.

Plusnet dont do homephone so i would need an alternative voip lik A&A which is extra costs

EE is more expensive

BT charge extra £5 pm for phone with FF

Vodafone is best option i can find, 74mb £25 pm including phone, £90 gift card and £57 cashback through TCB

I have placed an order with Vodafone for now, but i need to see Openreach first to agree on the install.

I dont need high speed internet. What i have, 38-40mb is fine.

I still may cancel the Vodafone order and stay with Plusnet on existing plan. Have had no issues with plusnet over the years.

I think its possible to cancel Voderfone order without any charge up to 2 days before install date.

Just confirm the small print re cancellation time scales. Taking Plusnet as an example, you only have 2 weeks from when you place the order, not the go live date.
