Direct Debit setup not possible

Hi,

I'm trying to setup the direct debit but the text box in the form to set the "name of account holder(s)" is limited and I can't add the complete name account holder. Is it happens because there is any restriction in the length of name of account holder to setup the direct debit? it's the first time that I have any issue with the direct debit, instead my name and surname (family name that contains two surnames) in Plusnet system appear correctly and complete.

In short, It seems that the text box to set the name of account holder only accepts 18 characters, what happens when a name place holder length is more than 18 characters?

Regards,

Jorge

Re: Direct Debit setup not possible

Odd!

The field is indeed restricted to 18 characters, which is not overly long for an account name.

I have seen account names truncated on payment cards, but that is at 23 characters.

Out of interest, do the EXISTING details show the full name on the payment account details?

Your immediate resolution might be to call COTS.

Contact Customer Options Team (aka COTS)

COTs is the place to go to if you want to find out anything to do with your contract in respect of leaving, renewing or simply enquiring about early termination charges (ETCs). They have their own number and tend to answer quicker than the general customer service number.

Direct dial numbers

  • 0800 013 2632 or 0800 079 1133(from within the UK)
  • +44 330 123 9197 (from abroad)
  • Available...

Re: Direct Debit setup not possible

If I remember correctly, BACS files only allow 18 characters for Account Name.  I wonder if this is related.  I seem to remember we used to truncate the Account Name when generating the files to send over.  That must be 15 years ago though.
