My contract ends on 25 March and that is it I no longer want Plusnet. Have read about having to write to say I am finished surely this can be done online. Writing is a way so that people do not botherm a poor way of working.

@bogart99 If you are moving to another ISP, merely placing an order with them, and getting it accepted - by the OneTouch Switching process is all that is required.

To add to @jab1's post, informing the "losing" supplier, Plusnet in this case, can cause major complications with the switchover - including a few weeks without any service at all.
If you are moving from Plusnet to another provider who is also using the Openreach network, then only deal with the new supplier - do not tell Plusnet that you are leaving.
However, if you are moving to Virgin or an alt-net, (eg CityFibre), based ISP, then you may still have to inform Plusnet. To ensure that you do not lose any service, it may be worth not doing this until the new service is installed and working. This will cost you a bit more, for a few weeks you will have two services running, but will ensure you always have connectivity.

I currently get my broadband via 3 mobile now even though is covered by Plusnet using landline until as I say March. I also will not need the landline for phone calls so just want to call it a day with PLusnet.

@bogart99 I'm confused - if your broadband is via 3mobile, it cannot be coming via PN. Can you explain exactly who you pay, and for what?

Hi, I have private messaged you with some account information.
Please check this so you're up to speed please!
Also to confirm you cannot have landline only with us, in any capacity.
Not even if you have broadband with another supplier, this must mean they also own the landline.

I used to get the internet with Plusnet but gave up using it some time ago due to dire speeds and then went with 3 mobile.
The Plusnet contract for phone and broadband expires on the 25 March, after which will no longer need either service.

Then just call them and cancel it with effect from the contract end date, otherwise it will be continued at the 'out of contract' price - expensive!

Was unsure if a cancellation over the phone possible. I will also cancel the direct debit.

Cancellation over the phone or by letter are the only two options.

@bogart99 dont do that until you've got the final bill and got the refund. You pay a month in advance and so there's usually a credit when you cancel. If there's no DD in place then a cheque is required and it will take a long time to get the refund.
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

I would advise you not to cancel your direct debit until you've had the final , zero balance invoice from Plusnet.
Depending on where you are in the billing cycle it can take up to 2 billing cycles to get to this point !
Edit
@MisterW is faster on the keyboard 😄
