My New Full Fibre 900 Order

Hi, I have just placed a new order for Full Fibre 900 this morning (30 April 2025 at 4:56am).

I had major issues with Sky, as I placed an order with TalkTalk on 17 April 2025 and I cancelled the order with TalkTalk on 18 April 2025 (as I changed my mind), which should have cancelled the switch.

The switch did not go ahead on the TalkTalk activation date 24 April 2025. However, my Sky broadband stayed active because Sky stated that the "switch got stuck with One Touch Switch". I have been trying to cancel my broadband service with immediate effect from 25 to 30 April 2025, and finally Sky have cancelled my service today (30 April 2025 between 2am and 4am).

However, when I placed an order with Plusnet, it stated that "we can switch you over to Plusnet and an engineer won't be needed". Before that it stated "do you want to switch your service to Plusnet, I selected "no", as it's a new order connection not a switch connection order.

Will my broadband service still go active with Plusnet in 14 days time from today, as I assume that as Sky have cancelled my broadband service today, that the switch from Sky to Talktalk will have become unstuck and stopped, and that Plusnet should be able to take over my FTTP line?

Any help here would be highly appreciated 🙂

Re: My New Full Fibre 900 Order

If there an existing FTTP installation then it should be possible for Plusnet to place a remote-activation order which only takes a couple of days. Make sure to leave the ONT powered as Openreach will attempt to test it as part of the order process. If the test fails e.g not powered , then the order will require an engineer visit and will take some time depending on Openreach engineer availability

@PeterHeap

Do you have an existing ONT installed or is this a total new installation?

Re: My New Full Fibre 900 Order

Hi MisterW. Hope you're well. Thanks for your reply and for that information. How do I get the remote-activation order sorted whereby I can be activated in a couple of days, as I'm currently having to wait 14 days at the moment for my service to go active? I also don't have a Plusnet router yet 🙂

Hi bmc. Hope you're well. Yes I have an existing ONT installed which is currently switched on. I will leave the ONT on as MisterW stated.

Re: My New Full Fibre 900 Order

Hi all. I have received a reply from a Plusnet representative. I think something went wrong with the order, but it is being rectified now as the representative told me "We are now placing the orders associated to the account so that we can get you up and running as soon as possible", and "We will provide updates as soon as we receive them from our suppliers." My go-live date is still 15/05/2025, their is no mention on my service being remotely-activated within 2 days time (I wish it did go live in 2 days time though haha) 🙂

Re: My New Full Fibre 900 Order

If SKy only cancelled today, then maybe the cease hasn't fully completed in all the Openreach systems. I'd call in to Plusnet tomorrow and check if the order has been replaced as a remote-activation.

Re: My New Full Fibre 900 Order

Fix
Plusnet just advised me that my service will be going live on 15/05/2025 at the very latest remotely. I will keep an eye on my emails and my Plusnet account for order updates. Thank you for yours and Plusnet's help, it's much appreciated! Have a nice week everyone 😊
