Re: upgrade from fibre to full fibre 300 but not speed no increase

@Rambo23 do you have access to any other device that could be used for a wired test ? e.g a friends laptop

I'm thinking a quick way to eliminate your laptop as the problem.

Failing that, do you know what the Ethernet chipset is in your laptop ?

Did the wireless tests from other devices show any difference after Bob's regrade ?

Re: upgrade from fibre to full fibre 300 but not speed no increase

Hi @MisterW

I don’t have any other laptops with an Ethernet connection unfortunately.

It’s on 5ghz band if that helps. 2019 Lenovo thinkpad.

The wireless tests on my phone, my wife’s phone and tablet showed very similar speeds following the regrade.

Kind regards

@bobpullen Something changed, the upload speed is now showing 104Mb! What was,the regrade to?

I'll admit to not having looked at @Rambo23's image, so didn't spot that.

1000/115, so the upload tallies. The order is actually still presenting as open in the supplier systems, despite having a completion date of yesterday.

Given my speedtest result to the ONT, and the increase in upload speed following the order, I'm not yet inclined to rule out a local issue.

@Rambo23 - I will drop you a private message with one other thing that you can try that should rule out a configuration problem with your Plusnet account.

@Rambo23 thats the wireless adaptor, it has nothing to do with the wired connection

Re: upgrade from fibre to full fibre 300 but not speed no increase

@MisterW  It’s possible that there’s a fault with the ethernet connection so the laptop is using the WFI link.

Is there a connection page on the hub 2 showing current connections ?

Re: upgrade from fibre to full fibre 300 but not speed no increase

@Champnet good point. I have a Lenovo Thinkbook and getting an Ethernet plug in is quite difficult. Having said that, a 5ghz wireless connection on such a laptop  should still give around 350Mb,  mine does if within 4 meters of the router

@Rambo23

If you click on this link  http://192.168.1.254/basic_-_my_devices.htm it will take you to Hubs My devices page.

Here you can view all the attached devices and how they are connected to the Hub.

2.4 or 5 Ghz or the LAN port number.

Re: upgrade from fibre to full fibre 300 but not speed no increase

Hi guys

Thanks. I checked that the wired connection on the laptop was the one being tested when I ran the wired speed test.

Would a regrade would work now that the senior open reach engineers have come and gone?

They confirmed that it was a Plusnet activation issue.

Thanks for your help so far everyone. Hopefully someone has a solution!

Kind regards

They confirmed that it was a Plusnet activation issue.

Roughly translated in OR speak as 'we can't find a problem in our network, it must be Plusnets fault'

@Rambo23 did you get the PM from Bob and try his suggestion?

Re: upgrade from fibre to full fibre 300 but not speed no increase

No luck my side mate.

It’s worked for a previous customer where the line was temporarily upgraded to the 500mb speed. Checked the following day and then dropped to the contracted 300mb speed. I’ve asked if plusnet can arrange this asap as it’s been a month since this issue should have been fixed. Hoping for the best but at the end of my tether with it to be honest.

This has already been attempted on your line as per my comments on another thread round these parts. Your line was regraded to a 1000mbps product and that saw an increase in your upload speed to ~115mbps. The line was then reverted back to your contracted speed.

The fact that we saw a change in the upload, and remote speedtests return the full contracted speed, does point to something local if I'm being honest. I did drop you a private message containing another suggestion to help rule things out but didn't hear back?

Re: upgrade from fibre to full fibre 300 but not speed no increase

I seem to be having the same problems, I upgraded to full fibre 300 and am getting speeds of only on average 50.
Tonight it was 12 at one point.
Any helpful info would be appreciated
