Hi. I tried to connect my chromebook to my hub1, didn't work because hub 1 had smb v1. New hub 2 just arrived. What is the address for the nas drive? Is hub 2 using smb v1 or smb v2? If still on v1 someone needs to get their act together. Hopefully it is v2 and I just need to put in the correct address.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

It’s SMB1 I’m afraid.

The Plusnet Hub 2 is a rebadged BT Smarthub 2 with tweeked firmware. Use wireless or Ethernet to connect your devices.

Thanks, I've read that before. I know how to connect devices, would just like to connect to a nas drive but Chromebook wants a newer version of Samba.
I'll click "problem fixed" though it isn't. thanks Jim

What type of "NAS drive" are you trying to connect to?
If it is a "proper" NAS, or something that you have built using a RaspberryPi etc, then it should just plug in to, (or WiFi connect to), your router and obtain an IP address. It would then appear as a network device to PC's etc. The Samba server will be in the NAS or RaspberryPi, so that is the version that is relevant.
Or, are you trying to use a flash drive in the router's USB port, in which case the version of Samba installed in the router is relevant.
I have a Netgear ReadyNAS that connects by ethernet cable to the Plusnet Hub2, and the video and audio files stored on it can be viewed on any PC, laptop, TV, tablet etc connected to our home network.

I've been on the NAS "journey".
Eventually I came to understand that a good quality and well supported NAS was well worth spending the money on and bought a Synology.
The single drive versions can be fairly reasonable second hand as people upgrade to a 2 drive system.

Thanks Mark. I know that is a possibility, but not worth the effort for m, I was just hoping the hub 2 was better than it is.

The answer is that the Hub 2 only supports SMB1. If you must use a hub USB port then your only option is to buy a third party device.
