Draytek Vigor 130 & Unifi UDM Pro

Hi All,

I have an ADSL / VDSL connection and am currently with Sky internet in the UK.

Sky does not play well with Unifi so I want to get rid of them.

Currently I have the standard Sky modem double natting into a Unifi UDM Pro. This setup is working correctly but obviously not letting me port forward correctly. Hence the move away from Sky.

I already have a Draytek Vigour 130 that I want to use with PlusNet.

My plan is to put the Draytek into bridge mode and then plug this into the UDM Pro and use the features of the UDM Pro for everything I need.

My requirements are for the ability to do full port forwarding controlled on the UDM Pro.

Is there anything I need to know about this setup prior to signing up with PlusNet?

Re: Draytek Vigor 130 & Unifi UDM Pro

@BrentonSpear it should work fine, there's a few people on here using the Draytek modem and (I think?) one or two using the UDM.

You'll find the settings details here https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/ .

Basically you need to set the WAN connection on the UDM for PPPoE with your PLusnet username & password.

@BrentonSpear

Its worth noting the plusnet supplied Hub Two can be configured to bridge mode so you could consider ordering one as a spare, The only charge for one is P&P

Re: Draytek Vigor 130 & Unifi UDM Pro

Hi,
I now have Plusnet setup and working with the plusnet modem.

I put my Draytek 130 into bridge mode and connected it to the phone line. It shows a solid “dsl” light and the ACT light is flashing every second.

I then went into my UDM Pro, set IPv4 to PPPoE and entered:
Username@plusdsl.net
My password for my plusnet account

I have left the vlan off and I have not cloned the original plusnet modem MAC address.

I have left it for 10 mins and it has not provided an IP address on the UDM pro.

Anything else I need to do?

@BrentonSpear

I don't know which, but in either the Modem or Router the VLAN needs to be set to 101.

Re: Draytek Vigor 130 & Unifi UDM Pro

Hi. That setting would be on the router.

I thought I read that plusnet didn’t require this but I have configured it anyway and will wait a while to see if I get an IP address.

Re: Draytek Vigor 130 & Unifi UDM Pro

I believe the Vigor 130 would normally have VLAN 101 set.

Certainly, if you have the Plusnet Hub 2 in bridge mode, it implements the VLAN ID and so the router MUST not!

@BrentonSpear are you sure you have the PPPoE credentials correct ?

Is there any information in the UDM log relating to the PPPoE attempts ?

@BrentonSpear

Its not needed on Full Fibre as the ONT handles that. See https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/

Re: Draytek Vigor 130 & Unifi UDM Pro

I removed the draytek modem, put the Hub 2 into bridge mode and now its working as expected.

Not sure why the draytek wouldn't work.

I've never used a Draytek 130 but I suspect it wasn't setting VLAN ID 101.
