Existing customer switching to HubTwo router

Hi,

I guess I have a HubOne router at the moment.  Nothing wrong with it, but as I was renewing my contract with Plusnet I figured I should get the latest router.  It may have a better WiFi signal and if I do have problems in the future I imagine Plusnet support would suggest having the latest router, so why not do it now.

What I would like to know please, what is involved in switch from the current router to the new router?

Not the cables, but the configuration.
Ideally I want to turn off the old router, plug in the new router, turn on the new router, carry on as normal.

Will the WiFi name and password remain the same?
Will the WiFi extender automatically recognise the new router?
Will the admin password remain the same?

I can deal with all these things, I just want to understand what I need to do and if I need to tell people I will have a break in my broadband service while I sort them out.

Thank you.

@Mark_72

As I understand it you simply unlug the old router and connect the new router and it will configure automatically.

Your Admin p/w will not have changed for PN but may have changed for the Router.

The WiFI SSID and p/w will have changed. You need to login to the Router Admin and change these to what you currently use.

You cannot split the 2.4 and 5g bands.

Don't know about the Extender.

The Wi-Fi name and password will change.

You may have to factory reset and reconnect the extender.

Which 'admin password' are you referring to?

@Mark_72

Will the WiFi name and password remain the same?

As previously stated this can be changed  to match the current Hub One, from the Hubs Home page

Home >Advanced Settings > Wireless

Will the WiFi extender automatically recognise the new router?

If the Hub One wireless name is used I see no reason why it should not

Will the admin password remain the same?

The Hub two has its own unique admin password, no reason why you cannot change it to be the same as the Hub One if you wish to
