FTTP with Honor 3 router

I've been using the Honor 3 for a couple of years with Fibre Unlimited on Plusnet and it's been the most reliable and fastest router I've ever had.

I've moving up to plusnet Full Fibre in a couple of weeks, and would prefer to keep my Honor 3 instead of using the Hub Two - is that likely to cause me any problems? Is anyone else using this with FTTP?

@strangepowers

If it's got a WAN port you should be OK.

Re: FTTP with Honor 3 router

Thanks @bmc - it has self-adaptive LAN/WAN ports so I'm hoping it's straightforward.

Re: FTTP with Honor 3 router

I've used one of these on a PN FTTP conection before and it was fine.

Re: FTTP with Honor 3 router

To avoid starting a new thread, would this still be a PPPoE connection if you are setting up a third party router?

Re: FTTP with Honor 3 router

@Superdario  FTTP from Plusnet is supplied by Openreach so will be a PPPoE connection protocol.

Re: FTTP with Honor 3 router

Thanks. So in theory the switch from FTTC will be seamless from an existing third party router perspective.

Re: FTTP with Honor 3 router

@Superdario Yes if it is just a router with an ethernet Wan connection, with FTTP this will connect to the Openreach ONT instead of an VDSL2 modem.
