Just found the order receipt for this desktop PC and there is actually a built in PCI (?) wi-fi card inside, could this be interfering?
Just want to connect it to the router via a reliable ethernet connection......

If it has a Wi-Fi card, try it with that, especially if the Hub is in the same room - if it isn't too good, you can always go back to Cat6.
The Wi-Fi card shouldn't interfere if you are connected by ethernet, but is there a way of checking whether it is in an active state - I'll have to go back to the Windows machine if you ask 'how'?'

I have the free "ProtonVPN" but only connect when needed and always disconnect.

The router is still downstairs for now, as advised by Plusnet and Openreach.

OK the Wi-Fi is disabled, so won't be having any effect.

As I said, where the Hub is won't affect the BT infrastructure which is at fault.

not sure what John is looking for with LAN, WAN shows the dropped connection, can you capture from "ALL" in event logs for around 15:14:06, 10 Dec, this will give an overall look at the event.
Did the light just go Orange or did the b light come one as well?

@Dan_the_Van Sorry, the LAN request was an aberration, due to something I was involved with on my local forum, sorry. 😉
@andyt1970 That last report proves my point - you are loosing PPP connection, as previously, without you doing anything to cause it - ignore that 'user request' tripe in the log above. It is something upstream of your Hub - in the BT/OR network which is borked and needs further investigation.
