Full Fibre installation - yellow or red cable?

I have had a new Full Fibre installation and have noticed that the installer used the yellow cable when the instruction booklet says to use the red one. Does this matter at all?

Re: Full Fibre installation - yellow or red cable?

Fix

If the cable was in the box the Hub came with it shouldn't matter which cable is used, hopefully both have four pairs/eight wires.

To confirm the WAN connection speed is correct look at the Status page of the Hub. "WAN link speed:" should read 1000 Mbps

If it is 100 Mbps use the red cable

Thanks, Dan_The_Van, it says 1,000 Mbps so all good. I was just curious as the instructions specifically say to use the red cable.

Re: Full Fibre installation - yellow or red cable?

The sockets on the router have different colours too: that makes it SOO much easier to explain things: "Plug the RED wire into the RED socklet...." so having different coloured cables (even if they have 100% the same function) can make support & problem fixing so much simpler, especially when the support person can't see the kit.

("No, the socket on the RIGHT when you're looking AT the back...")

(It also makes it easier when filming: "cut the RED wire......NO!.... the RED wire!!!."  BOOM!!!! 😀 )
