After signing up for 1 gig download with Plusnet and being sent as a new customer a refurbished Hub 2 ! Very very slow download speeds ie 12 Mbps !!! Plusnet said it was a line fault ! Openreach tier 1 and teir 2 help could not find the problem ! (did you know teir 3 is to pray to the Lord ) Plusnet sent me a new router. This worked well but my attached Eero mesh wifi was delivering slow speeds ie 110Mbps down. After 2 hours on the phone to Eero support I was asked to play detective and scan the house for high signals , then move my eero mesh extender to the high spots. This helped with the wifi speed.
But eero told me to turn off the wifi from the Plusnet home hub and disconnect all cat 5 connections from the Hub 2 as well.
connecting a powered switch for my other cat 5 devices. Oh dear !!!!!!!! the Hive Hub does not connect when attached through a switch ! We had a very cold night with no Heating. On phoning the Hive helpline and 2 hours of rubbish instructions Hive cut me off !!
Plug the hive hub directly into the Pusnet Hub 2 and bingo we had control of our Heating.
I hope this little tale will help someone and prevent a cold night.
Cheers

@ian4299 did you know teir 3 is to pray to the Lord
No, but it wouldnt surprise me🤣 Having seen what hoops an OR engineer had to jump through to get to Tier 2, I hate to think what was necessary for Tier 3😀
I was asked to play detective and scan the house for high signals , then move my eero mesh extender to the high spots.
Been there with helping a neighbour, the Eero automatically scans and changes its wifi channels to (attempt) to reduce interference from adjacent networks and there's no way to disable it and set channels manually. Problem is that if a device is in a different area of the house, its interference from others could be significantly different to what the Eero sees, so the Eero selected channel may not be the best.
But eero told me to turn off the wifi from the Plusnet home hub and disconnect all cat 5 connections from the Hub 2 as well.
Turning off the Hub wifi is a good idea, but disconnecting wired connections is rubbish!
Oh dear !!!!!!!! the Hive Hub does not connect when attached through a switch !
That's a bit strange, I can only guess that the Hive couldn't negotiate a compatible link speed with the switch, can't see why though?

,What is an ONT ?
Optical Network Termination - the box that your Hub plugs into instead of your Master Socket when you are on Full Fibre.

The "T" is also termed as ...
Terminal
Terminator.
And it's a modem.

@ian4299 to connect your Eero directly to the ONT , you will need to set the Eero to PPPoE with your Plusnet credentials. Instructions for setting Eero to PPPoE are here https://support.eero.com/hc/en-us/articles/5382599417371-PPPoE-Setup-Instructions
The username will be <youraccountname>@plusdsl.net and the password is the one you use to login to the member centre https://www.plus.net/member-centre/login
