Re: No firmware updates?

@Anonymous Thanks for the explanation in post #8 - a bit more information to add to my data bank, although I probably will never use it 😉 - this isn't an area I intend to spend much time in.

Re: No firmware updates?

Done some more testing today haven't got round to getting the hub one out yet that's being done after this post is made.

Both PS5's on 5Ghz - Phone on 5Ghz - both consoles ping spikes randomly not always at the same time but sometimes at the same time
Both PS5's on 2.4Ghz - Phone on 2.4Ghz (5Ghz disabled completely) - Disc console no lag Digital no lag
Both PS5's on 2.4Ghz - Phone on 5Ghz - Disc console no lag Digital no lag
Disc console on 2.4Ghz - Digital on 5Ghz - Phone on 5Ghz = both consoles spike at different intervals

PS5 near pc had bad ping spikes for about 5 mins after re-enabling 5Ghz network (consoles were still on 2.4Ghz)

Also worth noting that now my phone has been causing spikes when on 5Ghz and both consoles are on 2.4Ghz

Sadly no matter how many tests i do something different happens every single time so i really do feel that maybe the Wifi on the router is faulty I'll report back in a little while after i've had chance to test the hub one again.

Also i think at this point the title might as well be changed to "Wifi problems" lol

Given that your PS5's are next to the router, why don't you connect them directly with ethernet cables ?

Doing low latency gaming over WiFi is never going to be as good as directly connected ethernet !

Re: No firmware updates?

It is worth noting that ping will not give constant results, as many external devices within the route cannot be relied upon to respond quickly, they could be doing something else. so not really the best test tool

 C:\>ping www.bbc.co.uk -t

Both PS5's were under our TV both hardwired but i recently moved mine across the room to where my pc is and there is no suitable way to run a cable across the room (same reason my pc is on powerline adapters)

Only reason both PS5's are on Wifi right now is because i wanted to run the same tests on both consoles just in case the Wifi on my PS5 was faulty.

I've now managed to get the hub one out of the cupboard turns out i actually have two of them in storage

Re: No firmware updates?

Hub one all setup.

Both PS5's set to 5Ghz Both phones set to 5Ghz and pc connected to Ethernet via Powerline adapters.

Tiktok test Zero spikes ping on both consoles rose from 20/30 to 40/50 which is not an issue.

Speedtest done on PC & Mobile no ping spike on download or upload where as with the Hub two the ping spiked super high on upload portion of the test.

Speedtest is done va Speedof.me

Its worth noting i don't think this is related to QoS because from what i can tell the hub one has no QoS when googling i've found people saying there is none and i can't find any in the router settings pages.

I'd be very interested to try a new hub two if there is anyone able to arrange a new one being sent out as i feel like the Wifi is 100% faulty on my current one.

Re: No firmware updates?

@supernoodles I was going to keep out of this, because it's not an area I have much experience of, but before you go to a new Hub, maybe tagging @bobpullen again might be an idea - I'm curious to know why your Hub is on such old f/w, if it has been in continuous use.

Re: No firmware updates?

I'd be more than happy to have the firmware updated and see if that corrects the issues as it would certainly provide less of a headache for me setting up my smartlights and devices again lol

Any help please? @bobpullen

Re: No firmware updates?

Also @Anonymous we both ran the bufferbloat test again on the hub one and unsuprisingly the results were way better!

Poco F1 (my phone)

https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=fea08d66-a339-4128-b9a3-a0a436f615e3

Samsung A71 (partners phone)

https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=36bc0964-02f8-49df-a684-2778f3016f54

As i stated before AFAIK the hub one doesn't have QoS so i believe either the hub two needs the firmware update or replacing Smiley

If you factory reset the Hub Two and reconnect it to the line then you should find the latest firmware is applied within a day or two.

No need for my serial number or anything like i had to provide before for the Hub one when that wasn't getting updates?

Also if the firmware update doesn't fix my issue how do i go about getting a new router sorted Smiley ?

Re: No firmware updates?

Testing complete issue still persists.

Speed tests done on PC / Mobile phone cause pings to spike on both PS5's

Tiktok still causes pings to spike on both PS5's

Issue is now present on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz

Here is my bufferbloat result on 5Ghz

https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=b3cc749c-8b4d-4fe4-9a81-94fc8250a568

And my result on 2.4Ghz

https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=e62f44a1-b6ec-48f4-962c-9c4fca849a0b

And something i never actually thought of testing is my result on my pc (using powerline adapters)

https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=dc4272b7-d032-4bac-a7fd-74e875744a12

So I'm unsure what the hub two is doing differently to the hub one other than maybe my hub two being faulty?

Is it possible to maybe get a new one shipped out to me to try and see if that resolves my issue? @bobpullen

Unless anyone has any other idea's i'm totally lost.

With regards to it possibly being QoS related as far as i can see the hub one doesn't have QoS just like the Hub two doesn't.

Re: No firmware updates?

If it helps I never get above C rating with my Hub Two, so might be advised to seek an alternative modem/router which allows for QOS adjustments

Re: No firmware updates?

Literally just browsing Facebook and a video pops up or watching a stream on my phone and the ping spikes so honestly I don't think it's anything related to QoS because as I said above none of this was an issue on the hub one that also has no QoS unless it's hidden?

Pretty adamant that the hub two is faulty at this point
