PlusNet Hub 2 Router question

Hello,

We have a rather large house of 160 square meters but it longer than it is wide so getting full wifi router coverage has problematic.

Could I please ask what is the coverage of the Plus Hub 2 router please. Is it common to use and extender with this router.

Thanks,

            Nevica

Re: PlusNet Hub 2 Router question

'In answer to your question: 'Could I please ask what is the coverage of the Plus Hub 2 router please' the answer is 'how long is a piece of string?' Router performance is dependent on many variable factors, and what may provide an answer for one user may not work for another.

How long have you had the Hub, where is it located in relation to where you mainly use your connected devices?

@nevica

There are several ways to extend WiFi coverage in a property including buying a more powerful router.

However, only one is guarenteed to work - laying ethernet cable to supply a WiFi access point. It can be a case ot trial or error with other methods.

Re: PlusNet Hub 2 Router question

Until the OP provides more detail, it is rather pointless to advise a 'solution'.

As others have said it really depends on a number of different factors, where you router is located, shape of the house, thickness of wall, use of foiled backed plaster board or foil backed insulation in the property....

However generally most routers are the same power (legal limits on the radio transmission power they can emit), but the placement of the router and its aerial configuration do make a difference... I have done as @bmc mentioned and have two wifi access point at each end of the house in addition to a router in the middle - that way we get coverage throughout the house and onto the patios/garden

This link might help: https://community.plus.net/t5/Tech-Help-Software-Hardware-etc/Distributing-Data-around-Larger-Proper...

If you can afford it get a mesh set up, preferably with an Ethernet backhaul. If you are on FTTC then configure a Plusnet Hub 2 in Bridge mode. If Full Fibre you don't need the Hub 2.

If you want further help please do ask.
