Replace router, bridge mode old router

Happy New Year
I use Plusnet FTTC, PPPoE, with my own DSL modem / router / switch access point all-in-one (a full retail TP-Link Archer VR2800). All woks fine and I no longer have the BT Openreach modem (I binned it a decade ago). I have, but do not use, the Hub 1 given certain of its limitations.
I want to upgrade the main router to a new WiFi 6E mesh router network.
As premium routers no longer seem to come with a DSL modem, my plan, to avoid double NAT or any other IP address conflict issues is:
1. Change the current Archer VR2800’s home page IP address to something else that won’t conflict with the new 6E router eg 192.168.1.2;
2. Change the current Archer VR2800 into “bridge mode”;
3. Connect the new 6E router’s WAN port to any LAN port on the old VR 2800 with Cat 6 cable;
4. Setup the new 6E router as PPPoE using my existing plusnet login details but with VLAN off;
5. Connect all wired stuff directly to the new 6E router, not the old archer VR2800;
6. Re-setup raspberry Pi VPN in the new 6E router (DHCP address reservation, TP-link dynamic DNS, port forward to the internal IP address of the Pi); and
7. Configure Wi-Fi as needed in the new 6E router.
Does that sound correct?
Should I set my preferred DNS provider addresses in the new 6E router or should they be set in the old router (now acting as a modem only in bridge mode)?

yes, the 2800 won't be involved in any DNS lookup, it's now just a modem.

Isn't really necessary , since the 2800 won't be accessible by an ip address in bridge mode
