TPLink Omada Help

Hi everyone,

I have a TP Link Omada ER8411 VPN Router at home, which is connected to my new FTTP PlusNet router.

Here is the router technical specification if you are interested: https://www.tp-link.com/uk/business-networking/omada-sdn-router/er8411/

I have put the PlusNet router into Bridge mode, which I believe is Modem Only mode, then configured the Omada Router using PPPoE.

The internet is not available and the Omada logs are saying the PPPoE authentication details are incorrect. I have used the Plusnet username@plusdsl.net and my account password.

Have I missed something?

Yes.

If you have FTTP, then you don't need the Plusnet router, you just connect the TP-Link to the Openreach ONT

Re: TPLink Omada Help

@BuffaloRun welcome to the form.

With Full Fibre (FTTP) the ONT is the modem, so remove the Hub two and connect the TP-Link device WAN port directly to the ONT.

Yikes, I thought that I had one of the most overkill home routers on this forum, but I can't compete with THAT !  Shocked

Re: TPLink Omada Help

The link for the CLI interface from TP-link's website appears to be incorrect

https://static.tp-link.com/upload/manual/2023/202307/20230725/1910013378_ER605(UN)2.0_CLI.pdf

That's a link (I think) to the omada management stuff.

Re: TPLink Omada Help

Hub Two in Bridge Mode is for xDSL connections. If you have FTTP then you likely need to be getting rid of the Hub Two and put the cost of the Omada to use!

Re: TPLink Omada Help

Thanks everyone.

I've got the ER8411 connected into the Openreach box, and it's all working now.

@BuffaloRun

I'm glad that it was a simple fix to get you working !  Cool

What speed FTTP package do you have ?

Given that your ER8411 could easily overwhelm any broadband upstream path, have you checked your connection's "Bufferbloat Grade" using this test - https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat

If you're not getting an "A" or "A+", you 'should' be able to tune that up using your router's QoS settings.
