Re: Tp link and vpn

Have you looked at the TP Link site ? https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/3135/

Is your VPN compatable?

Re: Tp link and vpn

What device is that 172.xx.xx.xx  address supposed to point to ?

It might be complaining because perhaps it is expecting a public IP address, whereas addresses starting with 172.x.x.x, 192.x.x.x, and 10.x.x.x,  are specifically reserved for internal private networks - and therefore flagged as invalid format ?

If you are setting up the tp-link router to be the VPN client for your home network, then I'd assume that you would enter your internet WAN's public IP address (that can be found with https://www.whatismyip.com/ ).

Re: Tp link and vpn

Not fettered by any relevant knowledge, I wonder if it’s expecting the Private Key to be a hexadecimal number rather than an alphanumeric password?

Re: Tp link and vpn

Perhaps it might accept your public IP address in URL format ? -  i.e. your Plusnet connection's 'domain name' which might look something like "brid1965.plus.net"

You should be able to get your 'domain name' by putting you WAN public IP address in to this - https://mxtoolbox.com/ReverseLookup.aspx
