Just received a new router for PlusNet.
Hub1 thingy.
I see it has a USB socket, and had a go with a test memory stick.
We are AppleMac in this household and I've been experimenting with the stick.
Whatever format I set the stick to, the router always tells me it's the wrong file-type.
What file type does it want?
Can I put an existing SSD memory into it without reformatting and losing all the data?
Thanks, Mick.

Is it really a hub 1 ? If you got it recently I would have thought it is a Hub 2.... anyway I don't think it matters as it seems the USB isn't much use unless you are prepared to use an old insecure Windows SMB1 protocol...
Have a look at this link and do a search for "Plusnet hub USB" - Hub 2, USB drive and Time Machine or this one Plus One Router USB port

Hub One have been sent out 'recently' to ADSL subscribers in place of the EOL Hub Zero, things might have changed 'more recently' with the Hub Two being sent out to all new and renewing subscribers if requested.

Yes. it's Hub 1
No issues, it works brilliantly, but as it has a USB socket, I wondered what we could do with it.
Slotted in a memory stick with only a single photograph on it after formatting in a couple of formats, but all I get is the message that that the file format isn't supported.
This makes me wonder, what the heck is the USB slot for?
What can I do with it? Telephone PlusNet and ask? Can I use an already loaded SSD USB device into it? AppleMac?
What's the socket actually for?
Thanks, Mick.

During the life of the Hub One the supported SMB protocol has evolved from SMBv1 which is the only protocol the Hub One supports being superseded with newer versions. v2 and v3
So for now unless you enable SMBv1 on your MAC's it has little use
Top right of the Home screen you will see Help | A-Z, click on help for the user guide for the Hub.

I've got a Hub One. I find the USB socket handy for charger leads for iPhones and the like.
Apart from that it's as much use as a chocolate teapot.......
