Wifi Performance

Hey there

Sorry for jumping on your post. I’m having trouble with my wireless not reaching the bedroom which is only about 10m away from the router on the same floor. Do you know how I can open a thread? The button is greyed out for me

Re: Anyone had issues with Nest Wifi?

@webdesignbossuk As this is a Router issue, navigate to the 'My Router' board, and click the big pink 'Start a Topic' button at the top.

@webdesignbossuk More detail on your problem would help others to help you?

Re: Wifi Performance

Thank you.

We have the new hub and the Wi-Fi doesn’t reach the bedroom which is only about 10m away

Re: Wifi Performance

OK. You have the Hub2, and you are saying devices 10m away are failing to get/maintain connection? Which devices/how many walls of what construction/which WiFi band - for starters?

Re: Wifi Performance

is it the hub2 and is it mainly apple devices in the property?

if so ideally disable the 5ghz wifi as its likely they are sticking on that frequency wifi band ( shows as 1 channel on your wifi) and as its only a limited range its likely just not quite far enough away to automatically swap to the 2.4ghz band)

Re: Wifi Performance

Good point, @s7eveyorkshire . Although my Apple devices seem to be capable of performing on that band OK over that distance, even when outside, although I use a different kit, so may not be quite comparable.

Re: Wifi Performance

In the flat we have iPhone 12, iPhone 13, laptop, iPad Pro, fire TV. Non of them are getting signal in the bedroom. 2 walls. The wall between the room the router is in and the hallway. Then a wall in the hall to the bedroom. But if I drew a line straight from the router to the tv for instance. There is no walls in the way. Just 2 wooden doors. Even if we leave them open it’s still the same lol

Re: Wifi Performance

OK. I don't know about the TV, but the other devices may all be using the 5Ghz band. As an exercise, try disabling that on the Hub, and see if there is any improvement.

Whilst there was an issue with hub1 and apple devices, I've not had any such issues with the hub2

Re: Wifi Performance

Thanks, @dvorak . I can't really comment on the Hubs - moved straight from a TG582N on ADSL with PN to a Fritz!Box 7530 on FTTC with Zen.
