Even though you think it's not been changed, check it. Maybe someone is having a laugh

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

@Anonymous  Your screenshot of the router made sense, your addition of “the browser tells me to reset the plusnet box” is unhelpful.

Yes I know all this but if you read my initial problem this all happened with nothing being altered here on Fri PM and connecting this USB wifi stick works perfectly so I'll live with that for now

certainly was but as I have said now I'm using the USB wifi its fine, there must be some error in the PC wifi but its odd it was giving local wifi but would not connect to the internet. But I'm happy to just use the plug in one

@Anonymous  nothing has been altered on the PC but something HAS been altered on the Hub 2! It has been configured to block access to the PC. I have explained why the USB wifi works and the PC wifi doesn't,  the USB wifi will appear to the HUb 2 as a different device due to its different MAC address. The Hub 2 will therefore NOT block the PC when using the USB wifi but WILL block it when using the built in wifi.

Just go and check the Access control pages on the Hub 2 as kindly posted by @Dan_the_Van . You will find an entry there (how it got there who knows!) configured to block a device. Remove that entry and your PC will work again on its built in wifi.

yes, but who altered my hub? I'm the only one here that can do it unless there is hacking locally

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

I've looked through all the connections and can't find anything blocked is there a way I can reset all and start from scratch?

@MisterW  I reckon @Anonymous  is looking for explanations not solutions.

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

Well thats your view, I'm just attempting to find answers not conjectures I've now asked 2 questions here and most of the replies are nothing to do with my question even on this I've had suggestions about connections when I made it clear the wifi was working but I accept this can happen I'm certainly not going to start doing things I think may make my situation worse. if I'm not wanted here just tell me how to close my account and I'll go

.

@Anonymous  - when you 'reset your router' what did you actually do ?

  • Did you just restart it by doing a power off then power on ?
  • Did you perform a factory reset by pressing the recessed RESET button for twenty seconds ?
  • or something else ?

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

I tried all, from reset via the box logon page, unplugging the router and pressing the reset button none of which worked, I think from what I've checked so far someone has actually got into my plusnet box  (no one here has access to my plusnet box) and blocked that particular mac code from access but I'm hesitant to do anything that may cause me problems with my other working PS's

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

@Anonymous  There’s a lot of knowledgable members on this forum and most will do all they can to help others with problems.

It did work, a day later it doesn’t work and nothings changed isn’t a lot to go on. So you will be asked simple questions. You may to perform simple tests. If you want a solution then humour us and help us and in return someone here may have experience in this area and may know the answers

No need to leave just start again - explain the problem and include any relevant info.

To those experienced with this router : I don’t know if this router can automatically block an internal device going outside the network for whatever reason but more important is there a log file which may explain what went wrong, someone may know.

In addition : I’ve never known a hacker deny any device  access to the internet, Try to ignore the conspiracy theories…..
