Meet The Lockdown Heroes

Meet The Lockdown Heroes

Meet The Lockdown Heroes

During Lockdown, we all clapped for the NHS. Some of us even stuck rainbows on our windows. But some people went further. Much further.

They shopped for neighbours. Made masks for nurses. Or raised money by walking laps in their back garden. And they did it all without expecting any thanks.

Well - we decided to change that. We decided to give them the ‘Thanks They Never Asked For.’

We asked our lovely customers to nominate their Lockdown Heroes, so we could say thanks – with an all-expenses paid holiday anywhere in the UK.

THOUSANDS OF NOMINATIONS

We were overwhelmed by the response. We received thousands of nominations. Thousands of heart-warming stories about ordinary people stepping up and making a difference. Without fuss, without ego and without expectation of reward.

After weeks of judging (and hours of weeping) we finally settled on three wonderful people who summed up what makes Britain great.

Let’s hear it for our first Lockdown Hero… drum roll, please…

MARION QUINN

This wonderful, selfless woman runs a support group for people suffering from Dementia.

Named after her beloved Dad, she formed The Peter Quinn Friendship Group in 2016. And although Lockdown stopped many people in their tracks, Marion didn’t miss a beat.

She was on her mobile and laptop, day and night. Sympathising, listening, supporting, bringing love and light (and medicine, and food) to these vulnerable people and their carers 24/7.

Marion, we’d like to say a MASSIVE Thank You. Enjoy your break. You deserve it.

Lockdown Hero number 2 is a brilliant bloke from Brent. Clap your hands and throw your hats in the air for…

ROMARIO McLEOD

Romario started a charity in Brent. Its aim? To help over 600 disadvantaged young people during Lockdown. He made Workout Videos. Set up Wellbeing Workshops and Discussion Groups. And gave incredible one-to-one support. Without him, many families would have really struggled during Lockdown.

Romario, you’re that rare thing - a role model who doesn’t want his name in lights. We salute you, Sir.

Have a great break on us. You’ve earned it.

Our third Lockdown Hero has gone way beyond too. But he’s a little shy. So we’ll obviously respect that and simply wish him a great break too. (Trust us. He’s amazing.)

Don’t know about you, but we need a few tissues after that.

All of our thousands of nominees were incredible. Thank you.

And thank you to all our wonderful customers too. You took valuable time out of your day to remind us exactly what it is that makes Britain great - its people.

Thank you!
