Bonfire night is fast approaching, and lots of us here at Plusnet are looking forward to treating ourselves to a toffee apple, or two, whilst stocking up on sparklers.
But it’s also the time of year for making sure you take the right precautions when it comes to safety. The best way to stay safe is by leaving it to the experts and attending an organised fireworks display So if you agree, and fancy winning a day out to a professional fireworks event, then look below for details on how to enter our #WinItWednesday competition taking place tomorrow.
The winner will receive tickets for a family of four to go to Alton Towers on Saturday 5th November, and witness a ‘spectacular fireworks event that will dazzle and delight’.

2. After you’ve finished writing/ swirling your name in the air place the sparklers into a bucket of water
3. Stand a safe distance away from the display
4. Make a barrier, either with tape or bricks, to go around the fire. This will help keep your little guests away from the fire, and will make it look more professional too!
5. Ensure that a responsible adult is in charge of the firework display and/ or bonfire at all times. This should also never be left unattended
6. However tempting it might be to get your homemade bonfire roaring, never add flammable liquids or accelerants!
7. No matter what, never approach a firework that hasn’t gone off – you don’t want a trip to A&E to be the stand out memory from the evening
8. Be considerate of your surroundings. Make sure you let your neighbours know in advance of your bonfire night activities and be aware of where you are hosting your display to avoid any damages or accidents
9. Check and check again that the bonfire has completely burnt out before retiring to bed – you don’t’ to wake up to a nasty surprise
10. Buy your fireworks from a reputable place, large supermarkets often have a great selection, and look out for category two fireworks. This means they are suitable for home use as they require the smallest distance which is 5 metres (by British Standards).
