Quick and easy winter recipes to tickle your taste buds
Now winters in full swing we’ve turned up the heating here at Plusnet, started to wrap up in our warmest woolly jumpers, and in an effort to get cosy as weather gets colder, have been thinking about cooking up some quick and easy meals.
With this in mind we’ve scoured YouTube to find some online video recipes and bring you our choice of the best winter pick me ups we’ve tried and tested ourselves and can thoroughly recommend.
Cashew and ginger energy balls
Keeping your energy levels up over the winter period can be a real challenge, and let’s be honest, some mornings even peeling back the duvet cover and making a dash for the shower makes you feel like you deserve an award for bravery.
These Deliciously Ella energy balls are super easy to make and you only need oats, cashews, ginger and dates to do so. Okay they won’t iron your work trousers for you, but rustling up a batch you can grab on the go might give you a bit of a bounce in your step as you head off to catch the bus.
Vegetarian chilli
Chilli is filling, warming and when you use a lean mince like turkey even quite a healthy option. Making it vegetarian however, makes it super healthy and loaded with loads of extra nutrition.
We love this easy to follow recipe from Kerryann Dunlop which she makes in a batch big enough to feed ten. Here at Plusnet we’re all for planning ahead and making life easier with a bit of batch cooking. So pop the lid on your Tupperware open and unpick the ice on your freezer compartment to make way for any delicious leftovers.
Chicken and mushroom cobbler recipe
If you thought a cobblers was just somewhere to take your shoes for repairing then you’d be wrong. Because it’s also a really satisfying, yet simple way of creating a pie topping that’s less fatty and (a little) less calorific by just sitting on the top and not encasing the entire filling.
We love this recipe from Sorted Food. It’s full of lovely fresh ingredients and the simple herb seasoned cobbler topping is easy to do.
Thai-Style Grilled Beef Satay Skewers
There’s no wrong time of year for a satay skewer in our opinion, but using beef instead of chicken is a nice way to bulk this dish out a little more for the winter months. You don’t need to worry about barbequing this dish as it will do just as well under the grill or sat in a griddle pan.
This recipe from Food Wishes shows you how to make the satay sauce from scratch. We recommend serving this with a little freshly made couscous and broccoli on the side for a perfectly satisfying winter warmer.
So we hope you enjoy making and eating some of the recipes we’ve recommended. Don’t forget – the best way to make the most of searching for any recipes online is with superfast, unlimited fibre from Plusnet.
