So, who day dreams of becoming a famous author then? Come on, we’ve all heard the stories of just how rich J K Rowling is and thought “I could have written something like that”. This is where Scribd comes in. It allows people to easily self publish their work in a social networking environment (think facebook), meaning you’ll have readers in no time. Not only that, but it’s a good way to find new things to read, as you follow what your friends are reading/writing too. The reader is a neat little piece of kit – upload your Word doc (or choose many other formats, such as PowerPoint or Google Docs) and others can use Scribd to view it in different ways, including a turn-page book style. Check the above example to see what I mean. Obviously with something like this not everything is going to be a riveting read. Even so, there is a lot of good stuff on there and it’s a refreshing way to let your inner author out. Who knows – you could be on your way to writing the next big thing before you know it.
