65 pounds of corporate inflexibility

After 2 years of positive experience with plusnet, I was assuming moving broadband to another flat will be easy. It is easy but not cheap. Or fair. Or sensible. There is a 65 pound fee to move the service. But, cancelling the service, and signing up as a new customer is cheaper (even after the cessation and activation fees, which come to at most 50). I am not against the fee structure per se, but I find it peculiar that when a customer points out that both can save money, the company refuses.

Hi,
I'm sorry that you are frustrated about this.
We have told you that we would be happy to waive this if you commit to a further 12 months with us, which would be the same if you were signing up as a new customer.  We're just not able to do it on a monthly contract because we are charged ~ £68 to cease the service at your existing property and supplying the service at the new one.

Yeah, you did tell me;). But something just does not add up. I can do the switch without a contract by paying 25 pounds for termination fee and 25 pounds for activation fee. Also, your new "no contract service" requires only 25 pound activation, not 68-28=whatever cost you are saying you incur.

If you were not on a contract, your broadband would also cost you a couple extra quid a month.
So you would still be better off by taking the house move with a new contracted term.
