The test you posted shows the Profile as 77.44 which x1.033 = 79.999 in other words your sync speed it pretty much 80Mbps, which is exactly what I'd expect to see if the Cab is almost in your front garden.
Adam's post suggests it's not a Profiling issue at Plusnets end, so the likely probability is a problem on the DSLAM in the Cab, which probably does need the engineer to resolve as remote prodding has had no noticeable effect.
If you need any guidance on ensuring you PPPoE Dialler connection direct from computer to modem is set up correctly see http://community.plus.net/library/broadband/fibre-help-how-to-set-up-a-pppoe-dialler-in-vistawindows... or http://community.plus.net/library/broadband/fibre-help-setting-up-a-pppoe-dialler-for-windows-xp/ depending on your OS.

Will have to investigate the make of the adapter tomorrow, but am presuming its not cheap and nasty given its Alienware.

Quote from: Anotherone It CANNOT be the wire from the house to the pole, unless after you do the PPP drop and reconnect the BT speedtester reports a much lower profile which I'm guessing it won't as I'm fairly certain you will have established a new PPP session as a result the testing you've done, but at least doing it again should ensure that it reports the correct value.

Thanks @Anotherone Plusnet support talked me through setting up the PPPoE dialer over the phone on Saturday morning so im sure its ok, I am positive its nothing to do with any equipment my end as the tests were done directly from the master socket where the bt line enters my house, I think im just going to wait to see what the Engineer says on Friday as I am sure Plusnet would not be sending him out just for the sake of it.

Quote from: Anotherone The PC spec. should state what the spec. of the Ethernet port should be.
I realise that, but as stated in an earlier post I am at work at the moment and out tonight so wont get a chance to check anything until tomorrow evening, I ve checked the Alienware site which doesnt give the spec, it just states (1x) RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet

Is it me or is the profile reducing gradually also ?

Bt engineer arrived at 2:30 and left at 5pm, rewired the connection in the cabinet as he said it wasn't done very well and apparently I'm the first and only person on fiber in the cabinet, did his tests and found an "RF" fault (radio frequency not REIN) but said not to much to worry about, fitted a new openreach modem, spoke to various colleques over his mobile phone but still could not get it any better. Suggested they might need to do a lift and shift and he would close his job with the relevant notes.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 39.13 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-77.44 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.44 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 15.18Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
Whilst he was here the tests varied between 20mb and 72mb being the highest. directly from the openreach modem not the router.
Where do I go from here ?

I'm not familiar with Openreach diagnosing FTTC issues, do they look at stats in the modem? Do they run a speed test?
2.5 hours implies a fair amount of work, was anything else tried?

Anyway, it does sound like a fault on the DSLAM at the Cab. The engineer probably closed his job because it needs a more specialised engineer than he was to do the job. If it doesn't get followed up automatically by Openreach, Plusnet will pursue it Simon.
