Same experience for me..........you just end up going round in an endless circle with plusnet and BT after countless BT attempts to solve the problem and disappear up your own you know what.....
I woulldnt have much confidence in the complex faults 'team' being any good, they just made my situation worse.....then went to high escalation team who made the problem worse still......then went to PTO precise testing officer which are supposed to be the best and they made the problem worse still.........I have gone from a faulty broadband to no broadband at all since 18th May........yesterday something was supposed to happen and BT spent all day chasing notes from the previous PTO's engineers latest cock up.......
They must be really proud of their achievement's so far and must get a lot of job satisfaction having the capability to mess up even the most simplest of jobs.....

Well........ a bit of interesting info...  After a conversation with a CS agent Friday afternoon, he mentioned for me to try another router (sigh Roll_eyes  ).  I got home, and thought OK, lets humor BT yet again.  I swapped out the 2WIRE one I have, to an older Speedtouch 585V6, which I only retired due to the LAN not working properly, the ADSL side has always been faultless.  It synced up fine, and when I checked the stats, I nearly fell off my chair.  They were all OK, attn 45.3, Up 786  Down 6008.  I though OK this will drop in a few mins, but it didnt, in fact it stayed up all night, right up until I started doing some testing.......
At 17:00 this evening, it was still up, with 17,000 FEC errors, and very few CRC, but we realised no-one had phoned us all day, so I rang the phone with my mobile.  Lo and behold a few seconds after picking up the receiver sync dropped.....  and all line instability returned.  I disconnected phone, and rang the line again, to rule out the phone, and again sync dropped. 
Switched off router for an hour or so, and then rebooted.  Syncs still horrible, and phone line hissing again.  As per the last BT engineers comments, I phoned the house phone a couple more times, to record the hiss on the answer phone, which recorded fine.  After rebooting the router again, I have again seen the syncs are all OK again.

I think this rules out the Phone and the Router from the equation, and points to a joint problem.  Issue is I suspect BT either wont have a clue, or refuse to believe us.....  I think they are balking because they know whats wrong, and its going to cost them to fix, as I suspect its underground, and they may have to dig up the road, although i am not sure how they get to underground bits of line.....  I have copied this whole post to my ticket.
Can anyone advise.  Its not a faulty filter, as the faceplate I have is 2 weeks old fitted by the last but one BT engineer who visted, who also replaced all the wiring in the house.....

Well no sync drops as yet.....  interestingly we have had no phone calls, but my wife did call me from the house phone, and caused no sync drops.....
PPP dropped 16hrs ago, for some reason though....
I am now formally completely confused.  There was alot of rain yesterday, but sync stayed solid till I started testing things, with phone calls.....

Still up, now 1day 17hrs+.  Again there have been a couple of PPP drops, but no sync drops, and still nobody phoned us.  This is def pointing to a joint issue, or a high resistance fault....
Currently have 43 CRC errors, and 68,000 FEC errors.  Dont think this is bad......  BT engineer due tomorrow PM, if sync still up, will get them to ring the phone, and see what happens, hopefully if they actually see the issues first hand, they may be more inclined to do something.....  We have also recirded the hissing, but the engineer will probably just shrug his shoulders at this
If its still not resolved, i will be pushing Plusnet to really push the BT account manager about this.

I get millions of FEC errors but line stays stable - current uptime is 40 days with 20 million errors and 6,400kbps at 3km from exchange. Can go as high as 7,600 kbps but that goes down every day or so.
We had a problem with underground joints failing causing loss of phone. Funnily enough we still got adsl as only one wire in each pair failed.
Engineer plugged into master test socket and his device told him fault was 13 metres away. As both pairs had then failed underground cable, to house, was replaced in one piece from inspection hatch to master socket. This eliminated any joints but meant trench across lawn.
We had to give signed permission for Openreach to dig on our property and they had to contact council for permission to dig to inspection hatch.

Good news is line is not underground from my property, it goes from the front window, up the side of the house, and then accross to the Pole.  i assume the cable then goes down the pole, and then underground to the local Cab.  Good news again, the nearest cab, is approx 1min walk away, probably 20-30m as the crow flies, so if underground is the next option ( and in my view, its the only one), then there should not be too much digging, surely they can pull a new piece through the ducting?

I've just confirmed that the engineer is definitely booked in for this afternoon and the agent I talked to was quite surprised at the comprehensive notes we'd put on there Smiley - hopefully we'll see some change today and if not then we're at least in the right place to get this escalated to complex faults.

Thanks for that Matt...  BT engineer turned up, and messed with the master socket, then according to my wife, went up the street, and lifted some form of manhole cover.  Not sure what was done from there on, as he didnt return, but looking at the router logs, sync was lost a few times from 13:30ish to about 15:30.  Uptime now 3 1/2hrs.  Time will tell..  Can you post the engineer notes please Matt.
Chad....  i agree with your comments, but TBH, its not Plusnet, they are constrained by BT, as is every other ISP.  Its OFCOM, in reality who have caused all this, and I am unsure if complaining to them will get us anywhere.  What it needs is for the ISPs to get together, and formally lobby BT for changes to the current unsatisfactory service.  In the current setup, its nigh on impossible to get any contact with BTO or BTW.

Hi Penfold,
The engineering notes confirm that a fault was discovered at the exchange. The issue was then rectified by the line being reternminated to a piece of equipment called the RAS.
So far since this work was completed (at around 16:00 yesterday) the connection has remained up so we're just going to recommend that we monitor the situation over the next couple of days to see how the connection performs.

As this has been such a long drawn out process, that is now 'hopefully' resolved, could you possibly explain in laymans terms, what was actually done.  Was anything done underground, under the manhole they went down?
I only ask, as I am very interested in what the eventual fault was.  ( If indeed its sorted.).  Can you also give my profile a push to 5000, BT speedtester states its 5000, but PlusNets is set to 2000.

Hi Chris,
Yes a section of cable was lifted and then re-terminated which is why the engineers were working from the ducts.

Thanks for the reply adam.  Sorry to keep pressing, but what was the issue at the exchange...  reason I am asking is that many an engineer has been there before and reported NFF.  Dont get me wrong, I am appreciative that it seems to be fixed, although I am not holding my breath, as you can probably appreciate. Whats the RAS by the way.
Currently over 1 days uptime now.  Any idea why I get the odd PPP drop though.

Forgot to add.....  If all OK on around a weeks time, then I will have to get a new router I think.  The 585V6s LAN does not allow file sharing for some unknown reason, and as the 2wire was second hand anyway, would prefer a new router.  Dont need anything fancy, just a good quality router, that holds onto longer lines well. Dont need or use VPN etc etc.  Netgear would be my preferred, but cant seem to get hold of V4s  now all V5s.  Anyone know what the V5s are like, as they dont use the broadcom chipset.  Can anyone offer suggestions.

The DG834GT and DG834PN use Broadcom chips, but they are both getting harder to find new in stores ........ Google and see
