I believe i may have mentioned this before , but the problem still exists
Plusnet continually ask customers to the BT wholesale speed test which is still borked on my Firefox 59.0.2
I have just tried again and it says i may need to report a fault but i know there is not one
If this was fixed i would think Plusnet would get less complaints

Has anyone considered that it might not be the speed test which is broken ... but it is a problem with the browsers? The two mentioned are not exactly well known for their stability.
There ought to be zero need for web applications to be browser aware...

@Townman No its not the browser , i have raised this with Mozilla and they say the issues are due to the BT test still using old flash based test and not the HTML5 .
They suggested to me to tell BT to update their webpage and Yes i find Firefox very stable Browser
Ps Chrome and firefox are the most widely used browsers around so they cant be that bad
https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/software/best-web-browsers-3635255/
Firefox also scores serious points when it comes to privacy.

I'm guessing that it will never get better until BT ditch Flash with it's vulnerabilities, which seem never ending (http://bgr.com/2018/02/02/adobe-flash-0-day-vulnerability-fix/). I assume that this will be a low BT priority as presumably they're not bothered if customers have to download Flash and open their machines to ongoing exploits in order to use obsolete BT tools to identify faults in the BT network I intended to test it for my own amusement with different browsers but am stymied as I keep Flash off my computer.

One can debate the merits of Flash or any other technology you care to mention until the cows come home, however the browser should be transparent to the use of any such technology. If browser A supports a given technology and browser B does not ... blaming the use of the technology rather than the deficient browser support seems ... odd! Seems the disposition here is one can take the stance of placing the blame on the bit of the solution one finds distasteful.
Personally I take the view that given the tool has worked for long enough and it still works on many browsers, that it is those browsers where it does not work which are out of step ... or is someone going to try to argue that only FF and Chrome are "in-step" here?

I take your point. My objection to Flash is the vulnerabilities that keep popping up, hence my reluctance to use it.
However, to get back to the original issue, can you advise which browsers work reliably with this speedtester, assuming of course that Flash is installed?

It’s as long as it’s short ... the speed test is implemented to a given standard which has worked for years ... then there’s these “Jonny come lately” browsers who think they are the bees knees and superior to what came before them ... yet they are so often found to be deficient.
I suggest it’s incumbent upon the new comers to ensure that their products support existing standards and for them to declare their failure to do so.

I would not call Firefox a New comer , in fact the first firefox was released in 2004 you could even say it was before that as firefox was built on the old Netscape Navigator .
And Chrome is 10 years old fairly new .
There are also 10 other browsers built on the Firefox base code , waterfox ,seamonkey etc
Out of the thousands of web pages out there , only One will not work BT Wholesale

Would it not be less contentious and just as helpful if the BT speedtester gave a short list of browsers on which its tester will work?
