Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

I didn't ask when I phoned, but it will have the same reference (as shown on the two PN accounts) so that's sort of irrelevant.
BeThere are now aware that something is going on and have sent me the following helpful (NOT!) message:
Quote
Looks like something's gone wrong! BT have told us that there is an ongoing cease order for your landline.
The cease date is 03/02/2014

I believe this is pretty standard due to the "limitations"  Roll_eyes of their systems, so I'm not panicking (yet).
I've also has a text message saying my Be broadband will cease on that date, which is slightly more sensible.

Leave it with me and we'll see if we can sort that out rather than have you with 2 accounts.

Chris, many thanks for your help; I've just replied to the ticket you raised on my old account (linked to this forum account).
I said "go for it" - I can cope with the "mixed messages" that will result from the manual processes, as long as you're happy to do them.  Grin
Note that I still expect the DD may cause problems as you haven't taken any money from me for a very long time.

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

You've probably just got a load of emails, some saying your account is active. Don't worry about them, that's just due to Adam manually moving the account through different states to get it ready. The broadband order has been placed (no phone as you only wanted broadband) for the 3rd.

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

If you had joined Zen instead, as I did, you would get no problems. It was as smooth as butter, and they answer the phone in 2-3 minutes. It only took me about 5 minutes to set up on the activation day, and no problems. PN are still in the Dark Ages!

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

And if I hadn't intervened and HPSauce had signed up as a new customer it would have gone through fine. I'm just helping out as it makes sense to use his previous account rather than a new one.

Can you confirm that this was rejoining Zen and that they reactivated your old account which was configured for dial up only. If that is not the case, as Chris has pointed out, it is a totally irrelevant comparison.

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

Just a little quirky update.
Since yesterday I've been unable to log into the Forums, receiving a "Database Error". I have a vague suspicion this is a weird and unexpected side effect of the good work by PlusNet noted above.
Anyway, Bob Pullen has reset my forum password (not that it ever changed!) and as Arnie says "I'm back!" (boos all round  Lips_are_sealed )
Many thanks Bob.  Smiley (I've closed the ticket as well  Wink )
Though this does highlight an issue. If you can't get into the forums there is no formal documented way of notifying anyone.
I raised a ticket eventually, though the initial response was that they didn't support the forum. Nonetheless it wasn't ignored and a message was passed on and the problem resolved - the PlusNet way.  Cheesy

Opening a ticket is the best way for this, however this is the first time in the 5+ years I've been around on the forums that I've seen this issue.

DD payment is still showing as Pending and there's no request at my bank.
Same today (30th), I hope this won't hold anything up as Be seem to think BT will be switching me over on Monday (or is it Tuesday, times are confusing?) .......
Ooops, somehow edited that post by mistake, I meant to reply to it!  Embarrassed
(or was that a Forum bug, I'm sure I hit the reply button......)

Re: Coming back to PlusNet at last!

From my experience when I switched current accounts last July, PN are the slowest at setting up DDs -they were so slow that I ended up having to pay by card and incurring the £1.50 charge Angry

Well they have assured me that the DD is set up, but nothing has hit my bank yet and other DD's are processing normally.
I've also added a credit card to my account as a backup but have absolutely no intention of paying a £1.50 surcharge.
And I know they have the correct bank details as they have been paying me for referrals.  Wink
