Re: Current Line Speed still doesn't update when it should

@Oldjim (and @Gandalf),

This is not a fix, its a fudge.  manual intervention (requires support effort) or avoidance of scenarios where this metric remains effective on operational performance.

Whilst some users (those with fixed IP addresses and on 20CN) remain governed by the PN 'Current Rate' (profile) then it needs to update reliably.  This issue has been ongoing for years ... has no one yet got to the bottom of the update failure?

  • Is it PN system failures or BTw system failures?
  • Is PN failing to process handed over data from BTw or are the delta reports (in the failing scenarios) never received from BTw?

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Current Line Speed still doesn't update when it should

Perhaps what is needed is an additional script that polls the BT BRAS profile for each account that still relies on the Current Line Speed.

If the polling rate was one account per second, and assuming Plusnet has in the region of 1M customers, of which those on fixed IP or 20CN is likely to be about 8%,  then the polled BRAS update would get round all accounts in approximately a day - which isn't too bad for catching missed updates by the normal method.
