Fibre: So far, so good.....

Despite the availability of fibre for some time, I didn't feel a need for it nor that the price differential was good enough. However, with a change of Freesat box and "new" unlimited packages, the time seemed right Wink
Being only 130m from the cab, I get a full speed sync up/down and the SamKnows data is showing speed variations of around 0.5Mbps up and 3Mbps (up to 7Mbps single reading per 48hours) down.
The only downside? The SK box gobbles 30GB a day month for it's measurements Shocked  not that it matters with unlimited Cheesy

Hi Phil,
Glad to hear you've had a good experience changing over.

According to SamKows FAQ the box shouldn't be using any more than 2GB Down and 2GB Up per month (just over 60MBytes each way per day).  Wink

Ah, I misread PeeGee's comment there. My apologies.
I just meant Sky in general.

I will need to investigate further, methinks, as the stats suggest about 600MB per day - but I don't know the "roll-over" point. The PN usage data clearly indicates the rise of about 1GB+ per day started on the day the DHCP error was corrected Shocked

Update 2014-10-24 09:50: Cleared the router stats entry yesterday 17:30 and, with 2 speed tests left in the 24 hours, 887,585,349 bytes have been transferred - scales to >1GB per day with around 200MB during "offpeak". For comparison, Plusnet usage data gives 1.19GB yesterday peak and 175MB offpeak today. The Freesat box is also pulling data, but that seems to be around 15MB per day.

Re: Fibre: So far, so good.....

Right, after 24 hours 1.14GB has been logged for the whitebox. However, the SK system still hasn't changed the profile from ADSL "20" to fibre, so that may have a bearing.
The Freesat/Free-time box has registered 31MB for the 24 hours - that's without any "on demand/catch-up" usage.

Re: Fibre: So far, so good.....

Phil,
That is very interesting - I installed my SK white box today - will watch my usage closely.
