I'm taking all the advice on board and will investigate when I can get a round tuit (and no one's using landline phones, ipads, PC's, laptops, iMacs and smart phones [there are a plethora of smaller family members in the loft extension which is why I need the higher bandwidth])

When removing the lower faceplate of the master socket inadvertently disconnected the incoming DSL. After reconnecting I rebooted the router. (However, BTw speed test is still showing the DS profile as 77.44 Mbps).
I carried on later with lower faceplate removed (no extension wiring), plugged laptop directly into Plusnet router and did speed tests on speedtest.net - results variable, eg13 and 28Mbps downstream.
Early indications are that there could be a problem on the BT side of the demarcation point but I will do a thorough set of tests later (including PPPoE dialer) when time permits (firewall & antivirus progs off, all without lower master socket faceplate and none done wirelessly).
Note: non-standard wiring colours were used by BT (then GPO) for extension wiring. this confused the Kelly engineer who wired up wrongly at first. Luckily I checked the phone extensions before he left and found a tone (approx 2kHz?) on the line. He then changed wiring around and I got the dial tone back.

We'll update your ticket once testing has completed, also let me know the results when you get to try a PPPoE connection.

I've just done the PPPoe dialer test (straight into the modem) and results were:
download speed 37.2 Mbps
upload speed 5.69 Mbps
IP profile for the line 77.44 Mbps
(See attached captures)
Merry Christmas and a Happy (and fast!) New Year

Hopefully someone from the DCT can sort when they are next in.
Merry Xmas anyway.

I must object to this as my download speed is still less than half the possible 77.44Mbps. I am still in the process of trying to eliminate internal issues at my end. (See ticket 63645058 conversations).
On this ticket I attached my computer details and asked to be advised if the PC was 'up to it'. Instead, I got the reply 'case closed'.
I attach the details here. Maybe one of the forum readers can advise?
On another tack: I haven't heard from Plusnet what they intend to do about the engineer's failure to install an extension as requested during my order process.

This is an automated process, our suppliers have closed the fault off as they have tested your line and can see a sync of almost 80MB/s but the fault still remains open with us.
I'm arranging to get an engineer out so we can get the data extension cable installed, I'll be able to confirm a date with you later today/tomorrow.
Your speeds are also being further looked into, my colleague Ben just mentioned your hardware because all of the tests we have done have stated that your line is getting the full sync speed.
Your ticket will be updated further today and I'll at some-point today/tomorrow give you a call and go through the best date for you.
Chris
