Re: Frustrated - please help !!

When you get hold of the wired phone (preferably one you've confirmed works perfectly using the quiet line test on some else's line), if there is noise on your line make sure you also check for noise in the test socket!

Re: Frustrated - please help !!

Hi Jameseh,
Can I just check with you what to do next?
I added some info to my open ticket last night, so what do I do now?
If it's still connected tonight should I just wait for 3 days to see if the speed improves (I read the '3 days after several disconnects' bit somewhere)?
I'll also do the quiet test on the phone as well, just to be sure.
Thanks for your help,
Simon
P.S. I know this all sounds a bit coincidental after you said the next step was an engineer visit, but its genuinely how it happened and i've changed nothing. In a way, I wish it hadn't come back as it's just confused me now.

Re: Frustrated - please help !!

Thanks Simon,
I'm still seeing a lot of disconnections on your line.
BT have asked for engineer appointment times so I've passed your ticket back to you.

Re: Frustrated - please help !!

Hi James,
Thanks for that. As you say, I think it's going to need an engineer.
However, bad timing on my part as i'm away on holiday for 2 weeks as of tomorrow. Will I need to open a new ticket when I get back?
Thanks again,
Simon

If not a new ticket, we'll certainly need to reopen the case with BT.

Re: Frustrated - please help !!

Hi James,
I'll get in touch when i'm back then.
It's a pain, and I know I could perhaps get a neighbour to be there for an engineer, but if there's a possibility of me having to cough up £144 + VAT, I want to be there to find out why.
Cheers again for all your help,
Thanks,
Simon

Re: Frustrated - please help !!

Hi all,
Just to let you know, i'm back from my holiday and my broadband is finally fixed.
My dad's neighbour is retired BT Engineer and whilst i've been away he kindly looked over my house and found a small junction box on the outside of my house, and under the guttering, which was full of water, leaves and general gunk.
After cleaning up, clipping the wires and replacing the connectors, as well as piece of wire within the house that was only 'DIY quality', my internet is back and genuinely better than ever (getting download speeds of over 3mb now which is well above what i've had for years).
Anyway, I just wanted to say a big thanks to anyone and everyone that's chipped in to offer some help.
Thanks again,
Simon

Hi Simon,
Glad to hear it's all working again Smiley
Always handy to know a friendly neighbourhood BT engineer!
