You must obviously work for Plus net etc!

Cornish eh? That explains it all! Get real! A Cornish man just did my bathroom and said he wouldn't go back to live there for anything because it's full of 'foreigners', tourists and crime!  Grin And, for your information my router is always in the MAIN BT socket.
I can't understand the people up here either but I don't use that as an excuse for not having an Indian call centre.
How's your famous Alex Parkes going on? Or are you against gays too  Grin

No, I am not Cornish, I just live in Cornwall with the English which is why I was the target of racist abuse by narrow minded individuals.
When you're trying to discuss technical issues, you really do want to be able to understand what the other person is saying, it's called communication.
I am not against gays, one of my best friends is happily in a civil partnership, nor am I racist.  Roll_eyes

David,
..and for YOUR information the MAIN BT socket is not the Test socket. The test socket is behind the main socket.

Firstly, you're a racist as why wouldn't I want to call an Indian call centre? BT use them for their broadband and they are fine. Isn't it better to call and get through to India and for them to solve your problem rather than Yorkshire where they don't solve ANY of your problems? Don't you like Indians? Where do you live? Certainly not in Yorkshire for sure!
Plusnet uses call centres other than in the UK but not Indian... Do you approve of that?

What a ridicouls comment!...lots of companies sell themselves on the fact they have British call centres...are they all racists too?...its all about choices...people can chose who they want to handle their calls...plenty of Welsh people prefer to ring bi-lingual help lines...racists?
After 5 years trying to get any sense out of a certainly colourful ISP's tech support in India I gave up...they couldnt understand me..and I had difficulty understanding them...they were however, always very polite and civil...a lot of UK based call centre staff would certainly benefit from a few lessons from them...
I am in the process of leaving plusnet..purely due to a cost issue....and I admit one of the conditiond I had about the company I would be joining would be British based call centres...I couldnt give a hoot what colour the persons skin is whoever answered as long as I can understand them
Ok im a bigoted racist facist.. ....but I doubt if the Asian and black members of my family will see it that way...::)
My advice would be stay with plusnet...even though Im leaving they ARE a very good company.

The Peckham Pouncer,
I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Your comments seem to reflect most people's point of view about call centres.
Also thanks for bringing some much needed humour to this thread too, on a more serious note I'd be interested in your feedback about why you are leaving and if there's anything I might be able to do to change your mind (I apologise if you have been asked this already).

@ The Peckham Pouncer
Very well said, I hate the indian call centers but I am not racist and you are right I can't understand most of them and they can't understand me.
Mind you I get the same problem sometimes with Scotish call centers. Smiley

In contravention of the Geneva Convention surely?
A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine
