It would of been nice of PN to make an announcement for planned maintainence

Looking at the broadband usage graphs, either the overnight BT work didn't affect many people and/or the people affected re-connected quickly enough for nothing to show on the number of users online graph.
If you really want to be pedantic about it, there isn't an Announcements thread - there's the Announcements board which contains various threads.

There are plenty of your posts in relation to being pedantic, therefore you're the only one being pedantic
I do not wish to be pedantic over it as Board / Thread = Same Shelf  (Named announcements) should be used for the purpose it was intended
However to be more accurate
The Board called Announcements should contain a Thread informing the forum members of the planned maintenance

Go to the bottom of any community page and click service status what could be quicker also RSS feed or  Twitter! 
I don't want emails for areas or exchanges I'm not interested in

No doubt if certain members made this thread, then clearly PN would put an announcement in the Announcements section
In respect of email(s)
They should only be sent out to those who have ticked the box to accept them
Or
For only those that will be affected by said maintenance
Still waiting for PN's answer at this time

Why should it? Because you say so? It's clear from even a cursory glance at the forum that it's not used to make people aware of planned maintenance to exchanges. There are systems that PN use to make people aware of such maintenance and you're free to make use of them. If you don't wish to do so then that's your prerogative but you will have to live with not being kept updated on planned maintenance.

However that clearly still does not answer, my original question, that has seemingly been ignored yet again
I make a proposal that PN will have a re-think & will update the Announcement forum board / thread in future
ISP PN are / Politicians PN are not
The question(s) again to please be answered by PN staff

Why be so bombastic TORPC?  I believe the question HAS been answered in Linn's reply #20.
You have a particular view on how Plusnet should operate some of their services which is not always shared by the Community at large.
I for one would rather see any spare development resource spent on higher profile problems - like the erratic performance of the Forums.

Not sure what you have to sign up for? the twitter page can be viewed without having a twitter account, rss feeds don't require you to sign up for anything.
The announcement boards threads of real note would be lost amongst the mire of maintenance updates.
Really don't see what your problem is here.

The announcements forum is for Plusnet related announcements, eg new products, trials etc.
We historically had a service status/planned maintenance board when the forums were part of the portal, however this received a tiny (and I mean tiny) number of views so we didn't move it over when Community was created.
We were talking about possibly reintroducing one but as there are currently so many other ways to get this information, it's not something that we're currently planning to change.
