Re: Leaving unfortunately.

If I may enquire, the reason you are being charged £500+ is because you are in contract with talktalk and you have to pay off the remaining months of line rental and package price and add ons .  This could be the case, however this is NOT talktalk's fault that you are being charged its your's. Its under terms and conditions if you wish to leave early you have a termination fee.
Duhh what'd you expect?  Of course they are going to charge you! If you leave early and you only left plusnet a half year ago and joined TT half year ago, TT have 18month contracts

Re: Leaving unfortunately.

No, OP had his account blocked by TT for an unpaid bill dating from well before he was even a customer - not a cancellation fee.

Re: Leaving unfortunately.

Correct. If you read the linked post properly he only decided to leave AFTER they blocked his line because he wouldn't pay the £500 he didn't owe.
There's a lot of adjectives one could use to describe TalkTalk but all of them would be removed by the swear filter!

Re: Leaving unfortunately.

I find that 'blighters' works and just about conveys the sentiment.

Re: Leaving unfortunately.

I don't think 'blighters' is anywhere near strong enough for companies that make that sort of error and then are incompetent to look into it and put it right, even to the point of hanging up on the customer calling them. I hope he did complain to OFCOM about them.

Re: Leaving unfortunately.

Oh yes they do. They have 12 month, 18 month & 24 months contracts depending on what services you take.

Re: Leaving unfortunately.

I can confirm I agreed to a 24 month contract.
Just to clarify, the reason I migrated in the first place was to get YouView and the add on sky channels, which is only offered by TT, and the niggles I noted on this thread, were just that, niggles.. not something I would migrate over.
When talktalk performed a credit check, I was given a clear bill of health and a £150 credit limit, so this bill did not exist at the time my account was created.

Any news Devonian?

Im back with PlusNet as of the 14th (Wednesday) and I'd like to offer my thanks to Matt and Adam for their help so far, great job guys.
As for the situation with talktalk.. I have still had no answer to my enquiry or my complaint..
They have not sent me a copy of this 'bill'.
They haven't officially told me why they blocked my account.
They refuse to acknowledge my emails/phone calls/registered mail and simply say the CEO office will be in touch within 5 days... They have said that 3 times, I have been waiting 3 weeks!
They have also blocked me from the customer forum, as my daily thread updates of 'still no contact from talktalk' is classed as spamming aparantly, and they have done all they can to help, so there is no need for me to continue posting!
Interestingly there are a dozen or so new threads on their forum about similar problems to mine, 1 lady has said she pays £20 a month, but the past 3 months they have taken £120 and say she owes even more!
Avoid like the plague!
I have taken my punishment for leaving PlusNet, and I am now home!  Grin

Re: Leaving unfortunately.

Just a thought, not about phone and BB, but have you checked your credit rating? You never can know what the idiots will get up to!
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Have you been checking your status with the credit checking agencies? I suspect that will be the next thing that will happen is SilenceSilence* will tell them you are a bad debtor.
*Can't call them TalkTalk because that is one thing they obviously refuse to do.

I have actually spoke with (emailed) experian an explained the situation, I had a reply stating there is certain safe guards in place and to make sure I keep all documentation relating to the account, and to contact them when there is a conclusion... and for a small fee ( ::)) they will makes sure it hasen't affected my credit rating.
Thanks for the advice mate, every little helps  Cheesy
