Most impressed

Joined you from Talk Talk having suffered 9 months of constant faults and totally incompetent "answers"!
I am very pleased to say that having suffered from daily internet disconnections and being told that despite Outreach Engineers checking and finding no fault on the line that there was a problem my end, since I joined Plusnet I have had a constant and uninterrupted connection. I am very pleased I made the move.  Smiley  Should have done so months ago!!

Re: Most impressed

I've been with Plusnet for around 2 weeks now and I'm impressed too. I initially heard about them on the Sky Broadband forum when I was googling a solution to my constant disconnects with BT.
I suffered some downtime for 2 hours yesterday between midnight to 2AM but when I got back online I could see from the service status that it was undergoing some maintenance. It's refreshing to that they are so open about these kinds of things. If it was BT I would have to phone through and ask about it or I would wonder if it might be my router playing up.
I also like how Plusnet don't have an unlimited package, so it stops people from from jamming up the network with their constant p2p and streaming pornography.
The unlimited usage from midnight to 8AM is a nice touch, because I'm only on the 10GB package but sometimes I want to download demos for games and large patches so I can do it at the off-peak time without using up my data limit.
I'm a gamer and I really hate it when I lag in games so with the Pro add-on I know that my ISP isn't to blame when and if it happens.
So yes. I'm impressed. Its a real quality service with excellent customer service.

Re: Most impressed

Hi Phishfood,
Welcome to the forums. Hope everything goes ok for you, but should you have any problems with dropping connections do start a thread on the Broadband and Routers board, there's usually lots of help there. Out of curiosity, I couldn't be certain from your post, was it loss of sync or loss of ability to connect to websites etc. that you had with BT?

Re: Most impressed

This is going to take some explaining.
It was a consistent loss of sync with BT, even when it didn't lose sync I would always get disconnected from Xbox Live every 15-60 minutes for no apparent reason, I could reconnect back to Xbox Live right away, but being disconnected so often meant I was dropping out of a lot of games.
Where I live right now there are 2 phone lines. The first one is tied to a 2 year contract with BT (ends November this year)  that my family uses for general browsing and the other is the one I paid Plusnet to have installed (not an extension, I pay Plusnet for the line rental) which is just used for gaming.
With both BT and Plusnet the Xbox 360 is connected wirelessly to the router, but its only with BT that the disconnects happen. I have raised the issue with BT and after many phone calls an engineer was sent out. Now before the engineer was sent out I didn't even know what 'sync' was, when he got here he did a number of tests by attaching some equipment to the phone line but couldn't find anything wrong. A shame because the problem happens intermittently (around 5-10 times within 5 hours) The engineer told me to check the router to see if the sync light on the router is dropping out and if it is then it may be a problem with the router (Netgear DGN2200) but he doubts it though it could be a possibility. So when the engineer left, sure enough it was the sync light that kept dropping out.
Then I changed the Netgear with a TP-Link router but the problem persists, though with the TP-Link it reconnects much faster than the Netgear so general Internet browsing isn't interrupted so much. By the way this problem has been going on since I joined BT back in November 2010.
So I joined Plusnet and here I am. Curently I'm using the Netgear DGN2000, the router that I thought was faulty with the Plusnet connection and it's working just fine.
Another thing. Doing a speed test with the BT connection I get around 7mbps downstream but with Plusnet I get 13mbps.
