Now, let's say that by some weird stretch of the imagination BT actually do this on time, how long after the exchange upgrade can PN up my speed? (Sorry if the question's a bit naiive)
Oh, and I wish I'd started coming here many moons ago - I'm learning a lot in a short time.  Thanx guys

Assuming the BT date is met we can upgrade you in 5 days.

It's been a long while since I updated this thread. 
Now it looks as if BT will have done their bit at the end of this month.
My question is, will I need to do anything to get the new faster speeds or will it happen automatically?
