I see this "service" message has been posted.
I suppose any detail was completely out of the question.
Even paypal managed better and that's saying something.
"To meet the new PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) required by all websites that hold payment data, PayPal will no longer support outdated web browsers."
Maybe plusnet will update the billing software at the same time.

PCI-DSS requires SSL and early TLS (TLS 1.0) to be gone by 30th June.
Old versions of IE especially don't support anything over TLS 1.0. Basically any version of IE on XP.
Chrome/Firefox are generally fine due to the auto updating they've had built in for years.

It was announced years ago and the date got pushed back a few years because PEDs (pin entry devices, aka card machines in shops) from the largest supplier couldn't support anything over tls1.0 and required new machines to be manufactured and distributed.

This is a no win situation for Plusnet
1) Upgrade the software and get complaints
or
2) don't upgrade and still get complaints.
Hey ho.

I don't suppose there's a list of what versions of different browsers will be ok anywhere?
It may be a no win situation for Plusnet but it's never a no spin situation.

Not sure what the issue is here. Why would anyone want to be using a very old browser ?
The reasons given in the 'service announcement' seems clear enough to me.

Thanks for your feedback. I'd be interested to know why you think more information is required? people whom have very old browsers (who this is aimed at) usually have very limited technical knowledge and understanding.
It may be a no win situation for Plusnet but it's never a no spin situation
Seems like another no win situation.

We're upgrading our payment software over the next few days, and unfortunately that means that some older internet browsers will no longer be able to access our website.
Your internet browser is the program you use to go on the internet. Whether Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer, staying up-to-date with the latest version is crucial to getting the most out of your browsing experience and for staying safe online. And soon, older browsers won’t be able to visit the plus.net website and many others!
It’s super easy – if you’re not using the latest version, your browser will prompt you to update when you open it.
I'm not exactly sure what part of that you consider spin? is it the part where we say We're upgrading our payment software over the next few days? because updates that may impact service are precisely what the Community members tell us we should be communicating? every other part of that update, to me reads like an explanation of what's impacted and how to make sure you're not.

I'd be interested to know why you think information should be withheld and customers kept in the dark.

Going by past announcements there's always some spin. Why pretend otherwise.

But that's a pretty insignificant detail.
I can understand why customers would want to know if their browser is impacted.
Auto update won't fix those on vista/xp if I was also being realllllly picky. IE didn't like to auto update back in the day.
But as someone else pointed out, i have no idea why anybody would run something that old!
I don't see there are being any spin, just a few minor inaccuracies. And not sure how customers are being kept in the dark?
