Re: Plusnet Protect

Afternoon folks.
Would appreciate some more feedback from those of you who've been experiencing the license renewal problems.
McAfee have found some issues at their side and reckon this should now be sorted. I don't know the exact time they rectified the problems at their side, but it was at some point on Friday.

Errors installing
When trying to install/reinstall the software you're presented with this error message.

On Friday I was receiving this error message and was unable to install the software. I tried yesterday though, and everything worked OK for me.

Uninstalled and re-installed but this fails (see screenshot)

As above. Can you try again and let me know whether or not you're still suffering from this problem?
@Sciurus I've not seen that particular error before. What happens if you try again?

Re: Plusnet Protect

I unistalled McAfee from my system. I'm now trying to install McAfee again, I download the DMsetup.exe with no problems. When I run DMsetup.exe, I get the download splash appear and then nothing seems to happen; gave up after 60 mins. Tried twice with different copies of DMsetup.exe on two days. Is this a know issue; can it be resolved? Help pages say nothing helpful. PC running Windows 7 32bit
Dan.

Re: Plusnet Protect

@Dan the Van, that's not a problem I've encountered before. In my experience, the splash should prompt you for the serial number? Out of curiosity, what happens if you run the .exe in compatibility mode for Vista or XP?
@nibor, the renewal problem should have been fixed. It certainly seems OK in the examples we've tested it on. Have you tried manually tried checking for updates?

Re: Plusnet Protect

Bob,
I tried both XP and Vista compatible modes and it is the same, I do not get the screen splash where the serial number would be entered. I tried on an other PC running XP and that worked. Any clues on what might be going wrong? Strange thing is it installed before with no issues.
Is there a downloadable .exe file which can be run directly on the PC rather that using the McAfee interface?

Not to my knowledge Dan. Are you opening the file from the browser download dialogue, or saving it first? Perhaps worth trying both methods?

I've used Firefox (save the file) and IE8 (run the file) with the same results.  Cry
I will now try these options
i) download the file on another PC and try that
ii) raise a fault call and get McAfee to sort the problem out
iii) just give up and carry on using Microsoft Secuity.
It's annoying; another PC with McAfee never had the expired issue  and has continued working with no problems also Windows 7

Re: Plusnet Protect

It does seem odd Dan and I'm damned if I can replicate the problem! Let me know how you get on...
Anyway, in the absence of any feedback from @nibor, I'm going to clear the Service Status thread as all of the other examples we've seen here now seem to be resolved.
Edit: scrap that, I've just taken a look at the internal problem notes and looks like we've seen a few more examples of customers getting the renewal/expiry notice. I'm going to follow it up with them but for the time being the Service Status thread will remain open.

Bob,
a)  On another PC downloaded DMSetup-Serial.exe directly from McAfee site; not via Plus net link
b) retreived a new serial number
c) run DMSetup-Serial.exe as Adminstrator, followed instructions
Now installed, so I'm happy now  Smiley
