Hi Adam, I've tried downloading again and failed with the "not on this account" message, but when I've gone into my Mcafee account the email adress isn't mine - 1619534@plus.net - and the password is two characters short of mine. I'm guessing that this is probably something PN set up with Mcafee themselves but as its an account fail and the actual account details mean nothing to me perhaps this is where the problem lies. I've tried updating my account details but I can't without knowing the original password that I didn't set.

We're still aware of this being a problem. We're got a developer working on something to fix this for you today. I'll come back to you later with another update.

Ok - but as I only use emails very rarely is 1619534@plus.net something I've set up on the first day and forgotten about completely? I've tried finding it but with no success.

I've received an email to download Mcafee and it failed. I still think its to do with my PN account details differing from the Mcafee account I set up on day one and forgot about immediately as it had an email adress that I wasn't likely to use ever again.

No that's symptomatic of the cause of the problem we can see. We still have the issue under investigation with McAfee and we're still working on a work-around at this end for you.

AVG also do a free edition too, though they make it harder to find on their web site! For what it's worth, we run the AVG 2011 Free Edition and it's actually pretty good. You get most of the full package that the paid for edition gives you.

Thanks for that Mac. I'm running a Microsoft 30 day free trial at the mo as I thought that would cover me till the problem was sorted, but it runs out next week and I'm not sure when PN / Mcafee will get there act together so I'll bear your option in mind.

What Microsoft product is that then?
I thought their only security product was MSE which is free isn't it?

Only just noticed this thread, my bad, has anyone still with issues been pointed towards the extra McAfee removal tool, to be run after the normal removal, here : http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507
That may help with a subsequent reinstall.
As an aside having moved to PN McAfee from a residential license, I have found QuickClean and Shredder to be missing, hey ho.

just been reading a test in Computer shopper, McAfee came bottom of the pile, they lab test with Live virus

We're still working on this, I just need to make you aware that you will receive a few e-mails the nature of which will be about a cancelling them activating a new Mcafee service. Please ignore these and I'll confirm when you should be good to go ahead and reinstall.
