Remember this could happen to anyone on PLUSNET, as cases have been reported in the national press about other people who are innocent who have been sent threatening letters by ACS Law.

It may be prudent to contact ACS Law to remind them of their obligation on the court order, afterall they are probably very busy sending letters of
As allways i look forward to your reply

this is some what of a human rights issue with the way acs are acting and would be nice to hear direct from PN legal team
i ask all those following this thread but not posting to hold your hand up so pn can see how many customers this issue is important to, if talk talks network was any good i would certainly have them on my isp radar for there stance against acs

Suppose I were to supply a list of valid ip addresses - is that all I have to do - and PN give me Names and Addresses?
I'm sure I could get a good price for such a list.

Quote Suppose I were to supply a list of valid ip addresses - is that all I have to do - and PN give me Names and Addresses?
what system of gathering the evidence is valid in the eye's of the court issuing these orders?
can i implement the same torrent ip recording program as acs and then apply to court to get the right to issue fines out to ip address owners once` PN have bended over backwards to give me this info.
i want to know what program acs use in gathering the ip's so we can find a loop hole in there harvesting of ip's, nothing is ever 100% fool proof, lets break there system
just maybe we might harvest acs's ip's used to gather there evidence and in return fine them

We're still keeping tabs on this thread and are aware that the 30th June is tomorrow. If I'm honest I'm not sure how much, if any, information we will be able to share with you on top of the discussions we've already had on this but we'll keep asking.
Thanks

No need.
Take any port scan program.
Run it against the Plusnet ip address range (if the ip address responds, then it must be switched on).
Make a note of any open ports and ip addresses.
Go to the court and ask for thousands of personal details.
Then buy some stamps and send off your threatening letters!

I for one don't think this is important and don't want PN to spend a fortune defending it. Perhaps I don't think it's important as ACS can find me without going to Plusnet, they only have to do a rDNS and a Whois and they will have my full name, address and telephone number.

but presumably there must be some further EVIDENCE required to demonstrate that copyrighted material has passed to those IP addresses for ACS Law to issue threatening letters ?
[quote=Asbo Dog]...nothing is ever 100% fool proof, lets break there system
Maybe Plusnet customers need to start considering the use of internet anonymizer proxies to reduce the association between internet traffic and their IP address.
See Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymizer
and Nixie Pixels YouTube introduction to hiding your IP address

and for Ubuntu/Linux users you can always install "anon-proxy" (or similar) from the Package Manager.

so you don't think a big company forcing a % of NON GUILTY people to pay £500 or go to court and face a big legal bill to defend your right of inconet till proven guilty in a court of law is not important.
well i will be sticking with davidr and fighting for are human rights as best we can. i dont like the like's of oap's being stressed(causing them ill health) by getting one of these letters when all they may have done is not know about sercuring your wireless
this is not a case of rdns whois ways of finding your address its the fact they use the guilty till proven inconect part of it i hate and will defend
