Profile resetting is just an urban myth!

OK, I went for it.
1st attempt synced at 3744 kbps with SNR 7.8dB
2nd attempt synced at 3872 kbps with SNR 7.3dB
3rd attempt synced at 4096 kbps with SNR 6.3dB
For info, I've attached images from RouterStats over last 24 hours showing; sync speed, SNR and CRC errors.
These should show the events:
02/12/09 09:50 - BT Resets SNR. SNR drops to <2dB  and sync 5472 kbps
02/12/09 11:12 - I notice SNR reset and power down router.
02/12/09 11:19 - router powered up and syncs at 4416 kbps with SNR 6.0dB
02/12/09 17:20 - SNR jumps from 4.4dB to 6.0dB and sync speed drops from 4416 to 3744 kbps
02/12/09 19:20 - blip on SNR (10 minutes after a peak on CRC errors)
03/12/09 08:06 - blip on SNR
03/12/09 10:04 - power down router
03/12/09 10:19 - router powered up, set target SNR and connect ADSL
03/12/09 10:19 - 2 further manual setting of target SNR
03/12/09 10:30 - blip on SNR (maybe due to me switching tabs in Router Stats as no resync apparent)
I haven't tried the DGTeam firmware only because it would require a router reset, which I try to avoid like the plague! I didn't fancy the prospect of giving the BT system an excuse to trigger a profile meltdown. I may give it a go, If I recover some trust in the system.
EDIT: Corrected sync speed and SNR numbers against 02/12/09 events.

Yes, I share your lack of faith in BTw's DLM. Well done with that sync speed, can't get much closer really, let's hope it holds this evening for you.
I don't know what noise levels have been doing your way daytime today, they've been a bit hairy this way, not a good day for trying to optimise a connection!
If you are unlucky and the connection drops, then it really depends on what the daytime noise levels are doing in the immediate future.
If it's not nice and level for a decent period with minimal variation, then I'd settle for the next band down for a few days
When it is nice and level with minimal variation, then I'd have another go for 4000 sync, you'd probably get a much better bit allocation per tone and a more stable connection as a consequence.
