Re: Thinking Of Leaving Plusnet? Hang On Not So Fast!!

Hi Steve,
We don't see that date as being acceptable so I'm going to keep pushing back on that one. just needed to make sure yo are available on that day in case we need to go for the 2nd. At this stage that is purely a worse case scenario.
Adam.

Re: Thinking Of Leaving Plusnet? Hang On Not So Fast!!

I'm late reading this thread, sorry
Someone was asking about TalkTalk traffic shaping.
They throttle P2P until it doesn't work at all, 24/7.
At least, they did in my case. That is why I came to Plusnet.
If you use P2P beware of talktalk!.
If you do not use P2P then there is nothing wrong with the service and it is cheap!
PS - Their usenet server doesn't work either

To stay in line with our policy to be an open and honest ISP we do have some shaping on P2P but we are happy as always to share this information with you:

Yes, quite so. And I read that before I joined and that is what I am getting. I am happy if treated fairly and with plusnet I get what you said I would get.
I can only say about my own experience with talktalk. It was fine for everything except P2P and usenet both of which didn't work at all.

Re: Thinking Of Leaving Plusnet? Hang On Not So Fast!!

Out of interest...can someone give me a quick heads up on what is 'traffic shaping' ? (laymans version!!!!)
Steve M ..shall we set up our own 'coming back to Plusnet from TalkTalk' forum on here?.... :)..Im in the process too...I cant handle anymore of their awful connection and even worse 'help' lines...
The biyt I dont get is our line speed has gone down from around 2.5 (with a tail wind!) to 1.5 since we have bene with talk talk... :-\...I cant work that one out...but its a very weak connection and always dropping off..that if you can get it started in the first place!
It will probably work out another tenner a month...buts its money well spent as far as Im concerned...
Talk talk are everywhere at the moment punting their products..even outside our local Tescos..the two guys who appraoched the wife certainly regretted it by the time she had finished with them! lol
Buy cheap...get cheap.

Re: Thinking Of Leaving Plusnet? Hang On Not So Fast!!

Hi There Peckham Pouncer Yes I think we should start our own forum on here ;), If you were on IPstream with talktalk I believe that could be the cause of your poor line speeds, They are having quite some trouble with it from what I hear, I have good speeds but sometimes of late I cant recieve incoming calls on the 1st few attempts, Phone line tests done saying all is fine, My lines been mucked up since moving to them, And as for support on their forum..They are all a bunch of robots on there, And phone support, Well it may as well be non-existent.
They were in my tescos aswell funnily enough. All about traffic shaping here...http://www.kitz.co.uk/isp/plusnet_shaping.htm

Steve - Adam's off today and asked me to update you in his absence. The order for your telephone and broadband are both still going through absolutely fine, telephone for the 21st and broadband for the 23rd. If anything changes, we'll let you know.

Ahh Hi Ben,
You guys have been great in keeping me informed and sorting this out for me, It just boosts my confidence in Plusnet which is a good thing, Yes I did get this, Please see my attachment, It popped onto my tickets sat morning and slightly confused me( I rang in and the guy was going to ask Provisions that it was all still on for the 21st) Ticket was added today that it was still indeed going ahead for the 21st and glad its going ahead and Thanks for the update. Those were the times returned by BT Wholesale's ordering system. We changed your appointment to a 'flexible' appointment which are arranged over the phone and are not shown properly in the ordering system. However, I checked earlier this morning and everything's fine Smiley

Re: Thinking Of Leaving Plusnet? Hang On Not So Fast!!

Superb thanks Ben Smiley
TT is supposed to be cutting me off from between the 12th and the 17th so they only have tomorrow left to cut me off and so far they have not done so, I told them to do so on the 11th, Suppose they cant even get that right!! I did ask Adam if that would affect my new line installation etc( TT not cutting me off when I told them to do so before my trial period expired which was on the 12th) and he said it wouldnt, Im not phoning TT again, They should be doing their job right first time round!!
