Re: Just Before I Go

Well my expierence with Talk Talk after 11 days so far as been a good one, With being in a market 2 area the only LLU here is TalkTalks and thats what Im on and currently get speeds of  .. More than double what I had with Plusnet and that goes for Upload aswell with  B.T. 21cn being available to me by RFS date set : 31/03/2011( According to sam knows) My BB costs me £6.99 per month with 40GB download limit usage, I also have my house phone with TalkTalk at £11.49 line rental per month with free privacy pack, Free caller id( 99p with plusnet) and free voicemail, So around a tenner cheaper than plusnet with the package I was on at the time of being a plusnet customer.
As for their customer support Im afraid I cant comment on that at this moment in time but I will report back when I can.

Re: Just Before I Go

Yes I will do but as far as Im aware their customer support is no match compared to you guys, (Knew that when I signed up with them) But I never needed you guys all that much so I just hope I wont need theres all that Much, But yeah will report back when Ive experienced there customer support etc..
Edit..Can I add that while with Plusnet I got free download usage with PN from Midnight-08.00am 7 days a week at full line speed( Not sure about T.T. traffic Management if any), Dont get that with T.T. however I counted my total usage with plusnet on a monthly basis and I never once hit the 40GB mark so I should be ok in that sense, However for an additional £4.99 per month With T.T ( can add this and delete this as I see fit )  I can double my download usage to 80GB per month. Bare in mind Im on TalkTalk essentials Package.

Re: Just Before I Go

Plusnets Download usage graph Updates quicker than TalkTalks, and is far more accurate than TalkTalks, Talk Talk only tell you every time you use 1GB( EX.So far Ive used 2GB with them and i wont get notified further until I hit 3GB with them and so on
) and its only updated every evening according to them. Plusnet tells you by the MB aswell as GB

Re: Just Before I Go

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the feedback if you dig deeper into TT's info you'll find that they do have traffic management as a policy:
http://www.talktalk.co.uk/legal/tiscali-product/traffic-management-policy/
you'll find that the vast majority if not all ISPs have this now.

Re: Just Before I Go

If I wanted to come back to plusnet, Which I cant till this account of mines closes tomorrow would I be charged from moving of LLU back onto BT network and would I need a MAC Key from TalkTalk?

Re: Just Before I Go

Hi Steve,
No you won't need a MAC key. We can initiate the transfer at your say-so but you would need to resolve any outstanding contracts with Talk Talk separately.
If you like I don't mind phoning you tomorrow to have a more in depth chat about this and by the way there's no charges to do so.

Re: Just Before I Go

Im a bit busy tomorrow Adam( Sorry) I have 30 days from going live with them to cancel with them and I went live with them on the 12/07/2010,  I believe I can cancel at anytime from that live date within 30 business days without charge ( but will be due them whatever for using their services), Im not too worried about the financial side of things seeing as If I joined up with Plusnet again Id get 3 months free BB?
Can I just say that trying to get any help from T.T. staff on their  forum is like getting blood out a stone hence why Im very much feeling that I should return to plusnet for this reason alone.
Edit, How long would it take to switch back to plusnet roughly? If I phone talktalk and cancel with them within my 30 trial period wont they just cut me off altogether?

Re: Just Before I Go

my guess is ,as i was with pipex(talktalk)
as your on talktalk  LLU and while in their trial month
I'm not sure but you could face a disconnection fee from talktalk when you cancel them
on your final bill  (about £30.00)
combined with the cost of the phone line rental and internet during those days that you were with them
but plusnet will/should reconnect you for free  again
if you opt to stay for a new 1 year term on one of their packages
the talktalk disconnection fee will apply  the day/date that you cancel with talktalk

I would ask plusnet to take over your services as soon as your sure you want to leave talktalk
certainly cancel talktalk before the last day  of your trial month
and also have plusnet already switching you over to them
you shouldn't have any  lengthy disconnection time
but expect a talktalk disconnection fee at their end
and a reconnection fee at plusnet's end(free is you opt to stay for a year)
however if you leave plusnet
after you'll get another disconnection fee but this time from plusnet
then your next phone provider will charge you yet another connection fee once you join them ad infinitem
but clarify all this with plusnet

Re: Just Before I Go

Morning all,
There should be very little disconnection time experienced here, it may be an hour or two at worst. The process we use for bringing customers over from LLU providers like Talk Talk is to place what's called a VIC request which is to port your existing phone number (this is a manual process done via e-mail) once that is done we place a simultaneous order for the transfer of your line and also the subsequent reactivation of ADSL.
Steve, you are more than welcome to the 3 months special offer to come back and there will be no costs associated with the above mentioned process. I'll manage it from start to finish with our provisioning team as I want to make sure this is as painless and as smooth as possible.
With regards to lead times it takes roughly around 3 weeks so you might want to consider that factor when planning this.

Re: Just Before I Go

Morning Adam, Thanks for all your help and time in dealing with me, I have downgraded my PN account now to a dial up account ( Thanks to the moderator oldjim for his advice), 3 weeks? Im not sure if id break contract with talktalk by then, I could get the ball rolling with yourselves and notify T.T. on day 30 that I wish to cancel with them and by that time I should be halfroads there at least in re-joining PN, Let me have a think over the weekend, Would I just upgrade my now dial up to your broadband and take it from there? Thanks again this is what I like about PN, Great customer support!!
