Re: Unresolved support ticket open for more than six months - is this a record?

Thanks, Mal - I thought you might comment! Technician is probably the right level for the Openreach guys and I quite agree with what you said about the Martlesham engineers et al. BT is a huge organisation and there are undoubtedly many good people working there, but it's some of  the customer-facing staff who let the side down.
This will probably be my last post on this thread as the IP profile increased to 7150kbps yesterday evening and I'm getting download speeds of around 6500kbps. I may ask for interleaving to be switched off in a week or so to see if the speed can be increased further, but I'm very happy with what I have now  Smiley
Thanks again to everyone who took an interest in this problem and contributed to the many good ideas - hopefully these will help others who have similar problems in the future.

No point, 7150 is the maximum profile.

Well Steve, that looks brilliant.
I was just looking at the DMT snapshot with envy, when I suppose there must have been a bit of sub-conscious lateral thinking going (brain switched on today?). A few moments of mental detective work and I came up with the following -
You're on the 'East' side of Gatwick. The morse code you could hear at 790 (probably 793kHz) is   --.  . repeated.
Mind you I would have laughed at lot had it been .--  -.-.
The only bit of academic curiosity remaining is the low bit allocation at ~414kHz, which I'm guessing has something to do with a bit of local kit and in any event isn't important.
Hey how about a nice pic of that shiny new consumer unit to round things off?
Edit: A little reminder by the way  Grin

Well, that's the first century out of the way - let's hope it doesn't reach #200...
Don't know if you want to edit the title a bit now Wink

Yes a very interesting thread - I think we have all learnt a thing or two.
Glad it turned out so well in the end.  Grin

No, I don't do on-line gaming so I'll leave well alone - thanks for the tip.

You're right about the location, so it could be "GE" (or "WC"!) being transmitted in my direction, but my money's on it being .-. --- --- --  .---- ----- .----   And the answer would then have to be: -... -    Grin

Happy to oblige, so I've attached a pic plus another that I took when the final BT guy visited - he left an Oscillator plugged in whilst he was swapping the lines further down the road. I'd not seen them use this kit before so thought it was worth a snap, One of the MCBs in the consumer unit (second from left) is switched off as the circuit is not currently used, in case you're wondering...

I always try to look on the bright side  Smiley  But I guess it could easily have reached post #500 if the penultimate BT guy hadn't had a flash of inspiration...

But would you have Nick Hancock or Paul Merton do the deed?
Looks like a nice job from sparky.
The Osc is a Standard bit of kit for a linesman, but often they can't find the croc.clips when they need them  Cheesy

Now if he plugged in a spectrum analyser that would be really impressive, that would show the ADSL signal and any noise  Wink
