I would be more concerned if the figures showed usage higher to that than you used.

That's precisely the reason to bother about it. I was already going to make such a comment but then saw your post. Higher than expected usage could be an indicator of a number of possibilities - 3 of the more important ones being i) you have a virus ii) someone's hijacked your (wireless) connection iii) a family member (possibly child) is doing a lot of things you didn't know about - P2P possibly.
I think it's a useful facility to have, unlimited connection or not.
