Thanks for the offer. I have just checked my router connection status (28/03/2011 @ 23:35) and notice that the router has had uninterupted (without disconnection) connection for last 85Hrs and 11 minutes on my BT installed extension line with router connected to it. So, it appears that the extension line is not the cause for frequent disconnections I had as per CSC response. Any thoughts on this?
Connection Status
Connection Time 85:19:35
Connecting to Server Connected
Negotiation Success
Authentication Success
Getting IP Addresses 91.125.18.81
Getting Network Mask 255.255.255.255

I can't blame them for suspecting an issue with that to be honest as extensions do commonly cause issues with broadband connectivity. However if that was blamed from the off
I'm glad to see that the connection is much more stable now, infact its been up for over 4 days now. What are your connection speeds like at the moment?

I am at home for the morning and off again this afternoon. Yes, the line has been very stable for last few days and I have given the speed test results for last few days (below). Given the line length from the exchange, I am quite happy with the speeds lately and I hope that they stay that way. I should not have any cause for complain if the speeds stay as they are currently.
The next question is: Is it necessary to connect the router to the test socket if the line is stable?
The last few days speed test results (using my broadband test) are:
Today 13:19 2292 kbps (287kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)
Today 00:11 2290 kbps (286kB/s) 249 kbps (31.1kB/s)
Sunday 23:04 2294 kbps (287kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)
Saturday 22:50 2290 kbps (286kB/s) 381 kbps (47.6kB/s)
Mar 23, 20:13 2298 kbps (287kB/s) 204 kbps (25.5kB/s)
I haven't yet sussed out how I can copy the BT speed test results easily.
However, I shall be updating the ticket with the above query in next few minutes.

It appears that something has happened during the night of 29th and early morning of 30th. I had lost BB connection in that period and looking at the Router status the BB sync came on at approx 08.00 BST this morning. This could either be due to some work done at PN or BT. Is it possible to check on this as it is now really worrying me as I did not have any disconnection during the past 5 days and suddenly this has happened. Or was it that my celebration (of NO disconnection) was short lived.
Mind you there was some rain (drizzly) last night in our area.

As I live in Milton Keynes, that explains the disconnection. They are still investigating the cause of loss of connection in my area. Pheeeeeo, you saved me a heart-attack!!!!!!

The reason I am writing this I have noticed a steady decline in my peak time speeds in the last couple of months. Any other time of the day it is back to normal. I just hope the reason for this is not PNs recent advertising campaign brings the servers up to capacity.
Anyway what I’m trying to say is I’ve had three years of hassle free broadband from Plusnet please keep it that way

From late last night my upload profile has dropped from 448kb/s down to 180kb/s. Any particular reason for this? The upstream used to be 3600kb/s.

I'd expect it to be a follow on from the MSO to be honest, and as with most profile blips it should sort itself out within a couple of days. Let us know if not though and we'll see what we can do for you.

Thank you for your prompt response. What does MSO mean? Will appreciate meaning of MSO.
I have already updated my ticket on this issue and CSC has suggested that my router may not be ADSL2+ and hence line loss. In fact my router is Netgear DG834GT (updated to latest firmfare available from Netgear) and the paperwork suggests that it is ADSL2+. So, where do we go from here?
many regards,
Chandu.
