Re: Who forgot to renew the license

I think the assumption that the test might be trying to ping your own router is wrong. It will probably check latency in a similar manner to the BTw Performance test - not that the ping from that test is a reliable indicator anyway Roll_eyes
If you want a good indicator of your latency do a  ping ntp.plus.net  from a command prompt.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

Some of the ports that need to be open are being blocked by an upstream device. We know what needs to be done to fix it and are waiting for an engineer to schedule the time to do so.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

As an aside - why wasn't the new system tested before unleashing it on the general public

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

I imagine it was was, at least in isolation. I'm afraid I don't know enough about the work to comment with certainty. It may well have been an unrelated change that broke things post implementation.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

Well for what it's worth I still get the 'Latency Test Error' message when I try it.
Can you confirm / deny the need for the User's router to respond to ping requests please?

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

I don't believe it needs to respond to pings.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

Thanks for that Bob but if that's the case then it would appear that it has an 'issue'.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

Assuming all goes well, this should be fixed Wednesday morning.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

Just thought I'd say this is now working without error.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

Looking at http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ with AdBlock Plus enabled there is absolutely no Plusnet branding whatsoever. Perhaps the title could say "An easy-to-use broadband speed test provided by Plusnet" with a link.

Re: Who forgot to renew the license

For business users that would be true.  Wink

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
